In short
- Irodori Comics is the clearest source of DRM-free hentai downloads: uncensored English doujinshi as PDFs at 3200 pixels tall.
- FAKKU book editions download as PDF or zip at up to 3200 pixels; its help page is silent on DRM.
- Western and 3D: Iron Circus sells "DRM-free PDF" editions, Affect3D sells zip files, and itch.io passes on creators' files unchanged.
- BookWalker's downloads are encrypted, and Manta, INKR, Tapas and Lezhin's PLUS app keep downloads locked inside the app.
- Gumroad no longer sells explicit work, adult comics included.
DRM (digital rights management) is the encryption that ties a file to one store's app or account. A DRM-free file is an ordinary PDF, zip or CBZ: you can back it up, move it between devices and open it in any reader, and it keeps working if the store closes or bans your account. For hentai and porn comics that last point is not academic. Payment processors have pushed several stores into sudden rule changes since 2024, and a library that lives only inside an app goes wherever that app goes. Downloads are one of our platform features pages; offline reading covers the app-download side in more depth.
Where to buy DRM-free hentai downloads
Irodori Comics licenses doujinshi from Japanese artists and writes the policy on its about page: All our digital doujinshi works are DRM-free and can be downloaded for you to keep. The files will be available in high-quality PDF format at 3200 pixels height.
The editions are uncensored English localizations, and Irodori blocks users in Japan from them, citing Japanese regulations. Single doujinshi cost $5.25 to $14.95 on the day we checked, with a compilation at $39.25 and a "99¢ Monthly Deals" shelf. There is no subscription, so every file is a separate purchase, and refunds cover only a duplicate purchase within 24 hours that has not been downloaded.
FAKKU is the bigger catalog and the vaguer answer. Its support page says book digital editions are available both in x2600 and x3200 vertical resolution, and can be downloaded as PDFs or as zip archives with image files.
That page does not mention DRM, so we do not call the files DRM-free. Two other limits: it does not say whether chapters read through FAKKU Unlimited can be downloaded, and a digital purchase is refundable for three days only if it has not been downloaded. Most FAKKU releases carry the Uncensored tag, though the tag index also has Mosaics and Whiteout tags. For the full picture of where to buy, see where to buy doujinshi and our list of uncensored hentai manga sites.
Creator platforms are the third route, with files posted by the artist. pixivFANBOX lets creators attach images, audio, video, and other files
to posts, and Fantia's help centre answers the download question with a plain yes (some iOS setups stream video or audio instead). Patreon allows attachments on Adult/18+ pages. On Skeb, a commission site, Only the clients can download the original data.
FANBOX, Fantia and Skeb all require mosaics on sexual work under Japanese rules, so those files are censored even when they are DRM-free.

DRM-free porn comics: western and 3D
Iron Circus, an independent US publisher, lists a "DRM-free PDF" variant on every book in its erotica collection, delivered by email. Smut Peddler X costs $18.00 as a PDF against $50.00 in hardcover, and the first Iris and Angel issue is a free PDF. Its FAQ and refund page disagree on refunds, and neither names digital goods.
Affect3D sells 3D porn comics from about 200 artists as downloads: For most products, files are archived into a .zip file
, with comics as PNG, JPG or PDF. Purchases stay in My Downloads, and the store gives no refunds on downloads.
itch.io has the strongest DRM statement of any store here. Its creator FAQ says itch.io lets users download the games exactly as you uploaded them. No modifications are made to the files you upload
, and a July 2025 addendum calls it a DRM-free platform from day 1
. The format is whatever the artist uploaded. The trouble is getting to paid adult pages: in July 2025 itch.io hid all adult content from browse and search under payment-processor pressure, suspended Stripe for 18+ pages, and re-listed free adult pages a week later. Paid NSFW comics are listed in browse (on-sale prices from $1 to $8.99), though itch.io has published no dated announcement of their return. UK visitors are blocked from adult pages, though past purchases stay downloadable.
| Store | What you download | What the store says about DRM |
|---|---|---|
| Irodori Comics | PDF, 3200 px tall | "DRM-free" |
| FAKKU | PDF or zip of images, 2600 or 3200 px | Not stated |
| Iron Circus | PDF by email | "DRM-free PDF" variant |
| Affect3D | Zip of PNG, JPG or PDF | No DRM described; plain zip files kept in My Downloads |
| itch.io | The creator's own files | "DRM-free platform from day 1" |
| BookWalker | .lcpl licence for an encrypted EPUB | Encrypted; opens only in LCP apps |
Locked downloads and no downloads
BookWalker sells manga volumes you keep, but its own FAQ is blunt about the file: The actual EPUB file is encrypted and cannot be opened, converted, or extracted as a normal EPUB.
You download a small .lcpl licence and read it in an LCP app such as Thorium Reader or FBReader.
The webtoon apps go further and never give you a file. Manta's downloads are free for all users but live inside the app, and the 18+ full versions are on the website only. INKR downloads need INKR Extra and come with no file export
. Tapas deletes downloads after 30 days and closes on March 31, 2027 (our Tapas shutdown report has the dates). Lezhin's Android PLUS APK downloads R-rated titles, again with no DRM-free files. GlobalComix offers in-app offline downloads with Gold and sells some releases as PDFs, but it does not accept explicitly sexual comics.
Toomics, Honeytoon and MangaPlaza allow no downloads at all, and Kirtu's current Savita Bhabhi site says "(PDF download is not available)".

Gumroad no longer sells explicit work
Gumroad still sells memberships and digital products, but its help article lists Adult comics with nudity or sexual acts
among the content it does not allow, citing Stripe and PayPal. For buyers who paid before the change, Gumroad says Your customers' libraries will remain intact.
Our Gumroad adult content ban report has the timeline.
Apps that open DRM-free hentai files
A PDF opens almost anywhere. CBZ, CBR and folders of images need a comic reader:

- Android: Mihon (free APK, not on Google Play) reads CBZ, ZIP, RAR/CBR, EPUB and image folders from its local folder, and its docs suggest a .nomedia file so pages stay out of the photo gallery. Perfect Viewer is free and opens PDF through a plugin app. CDisplayEx Lite is free with ads; Premium is $5.99.
- iPhone, iPad and Mac: Panels reads CBR, CBZ, CB7, PDF and comic EPUB for free, with a password lock on Premium. YACReader is $4.99 on iOS and $4.49 on Android and reads cbz, cbr, zip, rar, rar5 and pdf.
- A home server: Komga and Kavita are free, self-hosted libraries that stream your files to a browser or to OPDS apps such as Panels.
The adult comics apps pillar compares them in detail, and hentai manga apps ranks them for that use.
FAQ
Is FAKKU DRM-free?
FAKKU's help page says book digital editions download as PDFs or zip archives at 2600 or 3200 pixels tall. It does not mention DRM, so we cannot say the files are DRM-free. It also does not say whether Unlimited chapters can be downloaded.
Where can I buy DRM-free doujinshi?
Irodori Comics states that all its digital doujinshi are DRM-free PDFs at 3200 pixels tall. Creator platforms such as pixivFANBOX and Fantia also let artists post downloadable files, with Japanese mosaic rules applied.
Can I download the 18+ editions from webtoon apps?
No. Manta, Tappytoon and Tapas keep their 18+ editions on the website only, and their app downloads are cached inside the app. Lezhin's Android PLUS APK carries R-rated titles with in-app downloads, not files.
What app opens CBZ files on iPhone?
Panels (free to read, Premium for the lock and OPDS) and YACReader ($4.99) both open CBZ and CBR on iPhone and iPad.
Does Gumroad still sell adult comics?
No. Gumroad's help article lists adult comics with nudity or sexual acts as not allowed. Buyers' existing libraries stay intact.
