In short
- Toomics sells a VIP subscription for most of its catalog and coins for the coin-only Toomics Store shelf.
- The US App Store lists VIP from $8.99 for one month to $47.99 for 12 months. The web price page needs an account.
- Free reading covers the first three chapters of a series, sometimes a few more. There is no free trial.
- The adult webtoons are on the website only; the iPhone and Android apps are family-safe builds.
- No downloads, no offline reading, and no open submissions for creators.
What is Toomics?
Toomics is a webtoon service run by Toomics Global Co., Ltd. from Seoul. Its terms also name a UK company, a US office in San Diego and entities in Japan and Thailand, and the App Store copyright line reads 2018. The catalog is full-color vertical webtoons from Korea, with an English interface and ten other languages in the footer switcher.
The home page claims 50,000+ episodes
. That is a count of episodes, so it says little about how many series there are. New chapters arrive on a weekly rhythm; the help center says we upload a new chapter of all the series weekly
.
Is Toomics legal? Its help center says the content is copyrighted and published with the artists' permission, and that All the profits made on Toomics are shared with the artists with whom we have direct contracts
. It is a licensed publisher. The rest of the services we have checked are on the platforms hub.
Who Toomics suits
Toomics makes most sense for someone who reads a lot of Korean adult webtoons and is happy to do it in a browser. VIP is a flat price for the main catalog, so a reader who gets through several series a month pays the same as one who reads a single chapter.
It suits three kinds of reader badly. Anyone who wants the adult series in a phone app will find the apps carry none of them. A reader who wants to pay per episode with no subscription is better served by Lalatoon, Toomics' sister site, which sells episodes for clovers. And readers who like to download what they buy get nothing here, because Toomics has no download or offline feature at all.
The catalog: Korean adult webtoons and manhwa
Everything on Toomics is webtoon format: long vertical strips in color, read by scrolling. There is no manga section and no doujinshi. If the terms are new, what manhwa means covers the Korean side of it.
The genre menu on the ranking page lists Drama, Romance, BL, Fantasy, Action, Comedy, Horror, Thriller, Historical and Sci-fi, plus a Complete tab for finished series. Romance and BL are where most adult webtoon readers start, and we keep broader lists for romance webtoons and comics and BL across platforms.
The catalog splits in two, and the split decides what you pay:
- VIP-exclusive series, read with a VIP membership and no coins.
- The Toomics Store, a shelf of partner titles that VIP does not cover. These are coin-only.
The terms add that the VIP catalog will vary by geographic location
, so a series you see recommended elsewhere may not be on the Toomics you get.
Adult content, Family Safe mode and the age check
Toomics publishes 18+ webtoons, but only on its website. On the web, Family Safe mode is switched on by default and hides the restricted series. Turning it off is a self-declaration:
Family safe mode is enabled, so you are unable to access our restricted contents. You need to confirm that you are over the age of 18 to turn off family safe mode. Are you over the age of 18? Yes No
Logged out, the Yes button left the mode on when we checked, so switching it off appears to need an account.
Five countries get a different route. The help article on age verification asks readers in Singapore, Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Indonesia to contact us directly
. Toomics does not say why. For Korea there is a clear legal backdrop. The Youth Protection Act defines a juvenile as a person under 19 (Korean adult webtoons carry a 19+ label at home for that reason), and it requires anyone selling material classed as harmful to juveniles to verify the buyer's age and identity.
On censorship, Toomics says very little. Graphic series open with a content warning panel at the beginning of the episode
, and that is the whole published statement. Nothing in the help center or terms says whether adult series are cut, barred or left uncensored. How mosaics work in Japanese releases is a separate story, told under mosaic censorship.

Is Toomics free?
Partly. The help center is blunt: there is no way for users to read our content for free or to get our VIP Memberships / Coins for free
. What you do get is the opening of each series, since only the first three chapters (sometimes there can be more chapters available) are available for free
.
The site also runs promotions. Some 18+ series show gift-box Free Passes, and a "Join and It's All Free" banner appears for new members. Neither replaces a subscription for anyone reading past the first few chapters.
There is no free trial. The help center says there is no way to get a 'Free Trial' without having purchased at least one of the VIP Membership plans
. Other legal routes to free reading are on our free adult webtoons list.
Toomics pricing: VIP plans and coin packs
Toomics shows its web prices only to logged-in members: the payment page redirects visitors who are not signed in. The prices below are the in-app purchase list on the US App Store listing.

- onceGet Coin Package 3$19.99coin count not shown in the store list

The list is untidy. It has two different "1 Month" rows, at $8.99 and $9.99, plus a Spanish-language "1 mes" row at $7.99, and Toomics does not say which is the current VIP price. There are also two "3 Months" rows, at $17.49 and $23.99.
The longer plans bring the monthly cost down a lot. Twelve months at $47.99 works out to about $4.00 a month, six months at $29.49 to about $4.92, and the cheaper three-month row to about $5.83. Against a $9.99 single month, a year of VIP costs less than five months paid one at a time. A full breakdown with the refund and renewal rules is on our Toomics price page.
How Toomics coins work
Coins buy single chapters. The help center says Each chapter costs between 1 to 3 Coins, depending on its length and content
, and a "Purchase All Episodes" button buys every available chapter of a series at once. Chapters bought with coins are like owning a digital copy
, and they stay readable even if the series is later removed.
Toomics runs three kinds of coin, and only one of them expires:
- Premium coins are the ones you buy. They
never expire
. - Bonus coins carry the same promise: they do not expire either.
- Gift Coins come with VIP,
5 free Gift Coins each month
, and lapse at the end of the month.
Here the arithmetic stops. The App Store sells "Get Coin Package 2" for $9.99 and "Get Coin Package 3" for $19.99 without saying how many coins either holds, and the web coin page needs an account. So there is no honest per-chapter dollar figure for Toomics from official numbers. Its sister site Lalatoon does publish its packs, and comes out at 29 to 48 cents an episode. Coins also convert into GEM for the Toomics Chat feature, at 1 Coin = 200 GEM
. For how coin systems hide prices in general, see the coin system explained.
What VIP includes
VIP gives unlimited access to our available webtoons without purchasing Coins
in the subscribe section, removes ads, and adds the five monthly Gift Coins. It does not cover the Toomics Store; the help center says that for content on the TOOMICS STORE, you will need to use Coins
. Without VIP you see ads: the Google Play listing says the app contains ads.
Toomics app versus the website
- iPhoneYesall-ages build; adult series are not in the app
- AndroidYesGoogle Play, all-ages build
- BrowserYes18+ series are on the website only
Toomics has apps on the App Store and Google Play, and neither carries the adult series. The help center says so directly:
we are unable to support any kind of adult content within our app due to the policies of both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store ... If you would like to read our adult webtoons, please access them through our website
That matches the store rules. Apple's review guideline 1.1.4 bans Overtly sexual or pornographic material
, and Google Play does not allow apps whose content is intended to be sexually gratifying
. The App Store build is rated 12+ and the Play build 13+. On an iPhone or Android phone, the adult catalog is reached in the mobile browser; reading adult comics on a phone covers the practical side.
Offline reading and downloads
Toomics has neither. The help center says Toomics does not have a feature that allows our users to download our comics or view them offline
. Chapters you buy are owned in the sense that they stay in your account, but you read them online. Services that do allow downloads are compared on the offline reading page.
Creators: submissions are closed
Toomics does not take open submissions. Its help article on submitting a webtoon says due to the restructure of our submission process, we unfortunately won't be able to accept your submission
. Artists work with Toomics under direct contracts with profit sharing, and the terms of those contracts are not published.
Content rules on Toomics
The terms set out two content rules. One is absolute:
Toomics prohibits contents with any illegal activities involving minors, including but not limited to sexual activities involving underage children.
The other is discretionary: Toomics does not condone contents with illegal activities such as excessive violence or non-consensual sexual activities
, and such content may lead to moderation, alteration, or removal
. We found no statement that all characters are adults, in the terms, the help center or the age gate.
The genre menu also has a School life
tab; with Family Safe mode on, it notes that some comics are hidden, so whether any 18+ series sit in it could not be checked without an account.
On age, the terms let people use the service from 14, and ask users to affirm that they are over 18, emancipated, or have a parent's or guardian's consent. The adult series sit behind the Family Safe switch described above.
Billing, cancelling and refunds
VIP renews on its own. A terms notice from May 2026 says VIP membership is automatically charged to your Payment Method every month
. To stop it on the web, go to Account Settings and press "Cancel VIP Membership". Support can cancel a web subscription by hand but cannot touch one bought through the App Store; those, and Google Play subscriptions, are cancelled in the store's own subscription settings.
Watch for the "Free Month". When a VIP member tries to cancel, Toomics offers a free month, which then renews as a paid one. The help center adds that taking it hides the cancel button until the second or third week of that month, so anyone who accepts should note the date. The general steps for every store are in how to cancel a comic subscription.
Refunds have conditions:
- VIP: within 14 days of purchase, and only if no VIP content was accessed.
- Coins: within 7 days, and only if none of the coins were used.
- App Store purchases go through Apple, not Toomics.
Toomics does not publish the name that appears on a card statement.
Who owns Toomics
Ownership has been in the news. In February 2026 Anime News Network reported that Sooseong Webtoons, the largest shareholder, denied that Toomics Holdings had hired an adviser to sell, and said it was seeking about KRW 60-70 billion of new investment to restructure debt while the service ran normally. A Korean report in July 2026 said Sooseong Webtoons' own controlling stake had been put up for sale. Whether that sale went ahead is not confirmed. For readers, the service is running as usual.

Pros and cons
Pros
- One VIP price covers most of a large Korean webtoon catalog
- Long plans cut the cost to about $4 a month on the 12-month App Store row
- Bought and bonus coins never expire, and bought chapters stay readable
- Refund window of 14 days on VIP if you have not read VIP content
Cons
- Adult series only on the website, with Family Safe mode on by default
- Web prices and coin pack sizes hidden behind a login
- The cancel-flow "Free Month" hides the cancel button for weeks
- No downloads, no offline reading
- Store titles cost coins even with VIP
Toomics alternatives
Lalatoon is the closest: same address in Seoul, same site software, and some Toomics-credited titles, but sold per episode for 3 clovers instead of by subscription. The differences are laid out in Lalatoon vs Toomics.
Lezhin Comics prices every episode in coins, about 50 cents for a 20-coin episode on its $9.99 App Store pack, and it is the one service here with an official Android APK that carries R-rated titles. Toomics vs Lezhin puts them side by side. TOPTOON Plus went the other way from Lezhin: it dropped coins for a membership, which makes it the most direct rival to VIP, and our Toomics and TOPTOON comparison covers that match.
Tappytoon is the choice for readers who care about labelling: it marks censored [Steamy] and unabridged [Uncut] editions, and its Club costs $4.99 a month. More picks are on sites like Toomics and the ranked adult webtoon platforms list.
FAQ
Is Toomics free?
Only the start of each series. The first three chapters are free, sometimes a few more, and the help center says there is no way to read the rest or get VIP or coins for free. There is no free trial.
How much is Toomics VIP?
The US App Store lists one month at $8.99 and $9.99 (two rows), three months at $17.49 or $23.99, six months at $29.49 and 12 months at $47.99. The web price is shown only after you log in.
Why can't I see adult webtoons in the Toomics app?
Toomics keeps adult content out of both store apps because of Apple and Google policy. The 18+ series are on the website, after you switch off Family Safe mode.
How do I turn off Family Safe mode on Toomics?
On the website, answer Yes to the "over the age of 18" prompt. It appears to need an account, and readers in Singapore, Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Indonesia are asked to contact support instead.
Is Toomics safe and legal?
Toomics is a licensed publisher that says it shares profits with the artists it contracts. Its terms admit users from 14 and the adult series sit behind an 18+ self-declaration on the website.
Can I download Toomics comics?
No. Toomics has no download or offline reading feature in the apps or on the site.
Final verdict
Verdict
Toomics is a subscription service first. If you read Korean adult webtoons in volume and do it in a browser, a long VIP plan is cheap per month and covers most of the catalog. It is a poor fit if you want the adult series in an app, want to download, or want to know your price before you sign up, since Toomics shows web prices only after login. Take the 12-month plan only once you know the catalog suits you, and if you try to cancel, say no to the free month unless you plan to come back to it.
