Lalatoon vs Toomics

Choose Toomics if you want one VIP subscription for a big catalog of Korean adult webtoons; choose Lalatoon, its sister site, if you would rather pay per episode at a published price (about 29 to 48 cents), want a GL tab and a lean toward BL and romance, and like a free coupon every 72 hours.

In short

  • Lalatoon and Toomics share a Seoul street address, the same site software and some titles credited to Toomics, and their terms use the same wording in several clauses. Neither site states the corporate relationship.
  • Toomics is subscription first (App Store VIP from $8.99 a month); Lalatoon has no subscription and charges 3 clovers an episode.
  • Lalatoon's published web packs put an episode at about 29 to 48 cents. Toomics' coin pack sizes are not public.
  • Lalatoon gives a Wait Till It's Free coupon 72 hours after you read an episode, on eligible series. Toomics gives the first three chapters and little else.

Search for Lalatoon and Toomics together and you are usually asking one of two things: are they the same company, and which one is cheaper for what I read. The files answer the first as far as public pages allow and the second with real numbers. For other pairings, see our webtoon and manga comparisons.

Are Lalatoon and Toomics the same company?

The public record shows close ties without a formal statement. Here is what the official pages show:

  • Toomics Global Co., Ltd. gives its address as 12 Teheran-ro 38-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Lalatoon Co., Ltd. gives "11th Floor, D&Y Building, 12 Teheran-ro 38-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul".
  • The two sites run on the same software. Even the genre page numbers match: Romance is genre 1065 and BL is genre 7 on both.
  • Some Lalatoon titles are credited to Toomics, for example "EAT ME!", credited "INO / INO / Toomics".
  • Their terms share wording word for word: the 14-year minimum age, the clause banning contents with any illegal activities involving minors, and the refund rule (Refunds are available within 7 days of the date of purchase if you have not used any coins at all).

The companies are separate legal entities. Lalatoon's footer names LALATOON Inc. with its own CEO and Korean business registration number, and it has a Dutch company, Lalatoon NL B.V. Toomics lists UK, US, Japanese and Thai entities. Neither site says one owns the other, so "sister site" is the fairest description. Lalatoon launched on 2020-10-28.

On the Toomics side there has been ownership news. In February 2026 its largest shareholder, Sooseong Webtoons, denied reports that Toomics Holdings was for sale and said it was seeking new investment, with the service running normally (Anime News Network). Nothing on either site says a Toomics account or coin balance works on Lalatoon.

Catalog and formats

Both sell full-color vertical webtoons licensed from the artists, and the genre menus overlap almost completely: Drama, Romance, BL, Fantasy, Action, Comedy, Horror, Thriller, Historical and Sci-fi on both. Lalatoon adds a GL tab and a New tab, and its strongest shelves are BL and romance. Toomics claims "50,000+ episodes"; Lalatoon publishes no count.

Both interfaces come in 11 languages. Toomics includes Thai; Lalatoon has two Spanish editions (Latin America and Spain) instead. One practical detail: Lalatoon's English edition is global.lalatoon.com/en, while www.lalatoon.com opens the Korean edition.

18+ content and labels

Both sites start in a safe mode. Toomics calls it Family Safe mode; Lalatoon calls it All Ages mode, with the note "Some comics are not visible because you are using the All Ages" mode. Turning either off takes an account and a yes to "Are you over the age of 18?". Neither publishes anything about mosaics or uncensored editions.

We can describe Toomics' adult side from its help center, which says adult webtoons are on the website. Lalatoon's 18+ catalog could not be seen at all without an account, so we cannot say how large or how explicit it is. Its terms, like Toomics', allow moderation or removal of "excessive violence or non-consensual sexual activities".

Free reading

Lalatoon gives away more. The first episodes of each series are free (episodes 1 to 3 on "EAT ME!"), and on eligible series a Wait Till It's Free coupon arrives 72 hours after you read an episode. A coupon-read episode stays open for 3 days, and coupons do not work on the most recent 20 episodes. Free coupon events run on top.

Toomics offers the first three chapters, sometimes more, and some gift-box Free Passes. Its help center says there is no way to read its content free beyond that, and no trial.

Prices and what an episode costs

This is where the sister sites split. Toomics is built around VIP: unlimited reading of its VIP series, no ads and 5 Gift Coins a month. The US App Store lists VIP at $8.99 or $9.99 for a month and $47.99 for a year; web prices need a login. A coin-only Store shelf sits outside VIP at 1 to 3 coins a chapter, with pack sizes hidden.

Lalatoon has no subscription. Every paid episode on the series checked costs 3 clovers, and the web packs were published in a January 2025 notice:

Lalatoon web packPricePer 3-clover episode
25 clovers$3.99about $0.48
60 clovers (50 + 10 bonus)$7.49about $0.37
140 clovers (110 + 30 bonus)$15.49about $0.33
290 clovers (220 + 70 bonus)$31.99about $0.33
500 clovers (350 + 150 bonus)$47.99about $0.29

The live shop needs an account, so these may have moved since. App coins are a separate wallet (you cannot combine coins purchased on the Web and on the APP), and the App Store packs "Coin1" to "Coin5" show prices from $4.99 to $44.99 without counts.

Run a 60-episode series through both. On Lalatoon it costs 180 clovers: about $17 at the 500-clover rate, or $22.98 if you buy only the 140 and 60 packs that cover it, with 20 clovers left over. On Toomics, if the series is in VIP, two months at the App Store monthly price is about $18 to $20, and a whole year is $47.99. For a single series the two land within a few dollars of each other. Past that, Toomics VIP pulls ahead. Our Toomics pricing page covers the VIP plans in full.

Expiry differs too. Toomics says bought and bonus coins never expire. Lalatoon's paid clovers last five years and bonus clovers one year.

App or website

Both have App Store (12+) and Google Play (13+) apps, and both apps carry the all-ages catalog. Toomics says outright that it cannot offer adult content in its apps. Lalatoon's store listings carry no sexual-content advisory, which suggests the same. For 18+ reading, both mean the website. The adult webtoon apps page covers services that do offer adult titles in an app.

Offline reading

Toomics says it has no downloads or offline reading. Lalatoon's FAQ and terms do not mention either, so assume none.

Age check

Both use the same self-declaration after login, and neither shows an ID check in the English flow. Lalatoon's page code also carries a Korean phone verification step, apparently for Korean sign-ups. Toomics tells readers in Singapore, Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Indonesia to contact support for age verification. Both sets of terms let people from 14 use the service.

Refunds and privacy

The coin refund rule is identical: within 7 days, only if none were used. Toomics adds a VIP refund within 14 days if no VIP content was read. Lalatoon says bonus coins are never refundable. Lalatoon has nothing to cancel; Toomics VIP renews automatically and is cancelled from Account Settings or the app store, past a "Free Month" offer that hides the button for a week or two. Both Google Play apps list ads. Neither publishes a card statement name.

Which one should you pick?

Pick Toomics if you read a lot across many series and want a single bill. A year of VIP at $47.99 in the App Store costs the same as Lalatoon's biggest clover pack, which covers about 166 episodes; Toomics VIP has no episode limit.

Pick Lalatoon if you read a few series, want to know what each episode costs before you start, and like the 72-hour coupon. It is also the one to try for GL and for a BL-heavy shelf. Remember that its 18+ side is unseen until you sign up.
