Adult webtoon apps

Store apps are where most people look first for adult webtoons, and they are the wrong place. Apple and Google both restrict sexual material in apps, and the services that sell explicit editions have built two products: a cleaned app for the stores and a website with the full catalogue. Which build you are reading decides what you can see, what you pay and where a subscription is managed. Our webtoons section covers the services themselves; this page is about the app question.

What each store build carries

The ratings come from the store listings. Apple replaced its 12+ and 17+ tiers with 13+, 16+ and 18+ in July 2025, so a third-party page that still calls Tappytoon or Manta a 17+ app is quoting an older listing. A 12+ or 13+ label tells you the store build is meant to be mild. It says nothing about the website behind the same account.

Why the store builds are clean

Both stores publish the rule. Apple's guideline 1.1.4 bars "overtly sexual or pornographic material". Guideline 1.2 gives an opening for services that show web content: an app may carry incidental mature material only if it is hidden by default and shown when the user turns it on through the service's website. Guideline 2.3.8 asks for icons and screenshots that suit a 4+ rating even when the app is rated higher. Erotic apps look tame in their store listings for that reason. Google Play bars apps that contain or promote sexual content, and its exception for book and video catalogs requires sexual titles to be a minor fraction of the catalog, unpromoted, with minors kept out. The same exception excludes porn.

Read that way, a webtoon store whose best-selling shelf is explicit has no room in either store. The services say as much. Toomics' help page: we are unable to support any kind of adult content within our app due to the policies of both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Tappytoon: Due to Apple and Google platform policies, steamy comics are available only on our website and mobile website. Manta's help page says it is limited in how certain series can be offered and sends readers to a web browser. Tapas writes that the Mature section is unavailable within the app to comply with both stores' terms.

Lezhin and the Android APK

Lezhin's developer reply on its own App Store listing reads: Due to Apple's policy, mature content cannot be provided on apps. Therefore, unfortunately we do not provide any mature content in our app. The reply is undated and sits on the Singapore storefront. The Play Store app carries the same all-ages catalog.

For Android users Lezhin runs a second build. Its PLUS page, served from lezhinus.com as one image, advertises Access All R-Rated Content! and states that the app is only available on Android. It ships outside Google Play, so installing it means allowing installs from unknown sources, and Lezhin's page includes an install guide for that. This is the only official adult APK in our files. For Toomics, Tappytoon, Manta and the others, our research files record no statement from the service offering an APK, and a file on a third-party mirror is not one the service publishes. iPhone readers have one route for R-rated Lezhin titles: the website, with the 18+ content switch next to the coin icon, which asks you to log in first.

The other builds, one by one

Toomics, Tappytoon and Manta follow the same pattern: an app with the all-ages or edited editions, a website with the rest. Manta's app versions carry a note that they are tailored to be more suitable for its age rating, which means the same title can differ between the app and the web. Tappytoon sells its Steamy editions as purchases separate from the all-ages ones, and unlocks do not carry over between them.

Lalatoon is the open question. Its store listings are rated 12+ on iOS and show no sexual-content advisory, so the apps appear to carry the all-ages catalog. The website has an 18+ toggle and hides some titles in All Ages mode, but turning it off needs an account, and the files record no view of the adult side. TOPTOON Plus, now served from global.toptoon.com, links no app, and searches of the US App Store and Google Play found no global one. Its NSFW mode is a website toggle.

WEBTOON and Tapas are the mainstream pair. WEBTOON has a Mature rating that readers under 18 cannot open, but its content guidelines ban nudity and explicit sex on the app and the web alike, so there is no separate adult build to look for. Tapas keeps its explicit Premium stories in a web-only Mature section, and the service ends on March 31, 2027, with Ink sales stopped since October 1, 2026.

Paying in the app or on the website

The build you pay in changes the price and sometimes the wallet. Manta's Premium membership costs $9.99 a month in the app and $8.99 on Manta Web, and its $9.99 Gem bundle gives a Premium member 1,420 Gems in the app against 1,500 on the web. Lalatoon says plainly that you cannot combine coins purchased on the Web and on the APP, and its published web packs, 25 clovers for $3.99 up to 500 for $47.99, work out to $0.48 to $0.29 an episode at 3 clovers each. Its App Store packs list prices from $4.99 to $44.99 without coin counts, so no comparison is possible. WEBTOON goes the other way: its coins exist only in the app and cannot be bought or used on the website.

Apple's rules also shape what a coin is. Guideline 3.1.1 says in-app credits may not expire, and the guideline on US storefronts says apps there may link out to other ways of paying. A subscription bought inside an app, on the other hand, is cancelled in the store. On iPhone that is Settings, your name, Subscriptions, the subscription, Cancel Subscription. Android users go to the Google Play subscriptions page, and Google adds that uninstalling the app does not cancel anything. Google also says access then runs to the end of the period already paid.
