How we check platforms and prices

Every fact on this site comes from a page the platform publishes itself. This is the order we read them in, and what happens when a platform publishes nothing.

Where the facts come from

In this order: the platform's own website and catalog, its price list or coin shop, its creator documentation, its help center, its App Store listing, its Google Play listing, its terms, its content policy, its privacy policy, and its own announcements. Industry press is used for events such as launches, acquisitions and shutdowns. Reddit and forum threads are used only to report what readers say, and they are labelled that way wherever they appear.

A number in marketing copy is the platform's claim about itself. "Over 10,000 titles" is printed as what the company says.

What we leave blank

Subscription prices, coin prices, episode costs, library sizes, revenue shares, payout thresholds and schedules, fees, app availability, offline reading, content rules, region limits, cancellation steps and refund terms. If a platform does not publish one of these, the page says it is not published. A blank on this site means the platform would not say, not that the answer is no.

Coins and episode prices

Webtoon platforms sell coins, and coins buy episodes. A coin pack has a price in dollars and an episode has a price in coins, so the number a reader needs is the price of one episode in dollars. Where a platform publishes both numbers, we do that division on the page and show it. Bonus coins and first-purchase discounts are listed separately, because they change the answer and they usually do not last.

Prices in the App Store and Google Play are often higher than on the website, since the stores take a cut. Where both are published, we give both.

Currencies

Prices are shown in US dollars. Japanese stores publish in yen, Korean ones sometimes in won, and some sites show euros to a European visitor. Those amounts are converted at the European Central Bank reference rate recorded in our build settings and marked with a tilde (~$9), so a conversion never passes for a price anyone actually charges.

What we did not do

We did not create accounts, subscribe, buy coins or install apps to write these pages. Nothing here is a first-hand report of reading on a platform. What we can tell you is what the public pages, the store listings and the policies say, which is the part most other sites get wrong or skip.

How often pages are checked again

  • Pricing pages: monthly, or sooner when a price change turns up.
  • Platform reviews, app pages and creator pages: every one to three months.
  • Best-of lists and genre pages: every three to six months.
  • Guides: once a year.
  • News: when the story changes.
