Lezhin Comics Review

Lezhin Comics is the English store of a Korean webtoon publisher where you buy episodes with coins, usually 20 to 50 or more coins each, and there is no subscription. The R-rated editions are on the website and in a sideloaded Android app called Lezhin Comics PLUS; the App Store and Play Store apps carry none of them.

In short

  • Lezhin sells episodes for coins. Episodes are priced per title, mostly 20 to 50 or more coins, and there is no subscription.
  • On the US App Store, 400 coins plus 45 bonus cost $9.99, so a 20-coin episode comes to about 50 cents.
  • R-rated editions are on the website and in the Android-only Lezhin Comics PLUS APK. The iPhone and Play Store apps have none.
  • Many series open with several free episodes, readable without an account.

What is Lezhin Comics?

Lezhin Comics is a Korean webtoon publisher, and lezhinus.com is its English-language US store. The terms name Lezhin Entertainment, LLC as the operator, and the App Store seller is Lezhin Entertainment, Inc. The US iPhone app first went up on August 17, 2013.

Its parent is the Korean company Kidari Studio, which also runs Bomtoon, a Korean-language service with no English edition. At home, Lezhin is heavily adult: Korea Herald, citing KOMACON data, put Lezhin Comics at 71.3% adult-only titles in 2024. That figure is for the Korean catalog; Lezhin publishes no such number for the English store.

Every title is a Lezhin publication; the footer reads All titles published by Lezhin Comics are protected by copyright. The catalog is vertical webtoons with some licensed manhua, and the App Store listing promises New episodes every day! at 5:00am Pacific. Other services in the same niche are collected on our platforms hub.

Who Lezhin suits

Lezhin fits a reader who follows a handful of series and would sooner pay for what they read than keep a subscription running. The per-episode price is printed on each series, so it is easy to see what a run will cost before you start.

It is a weaker fit on an iPhone, where the mature editions only open in the browser, and for anyone who binges long series, since coins add up fast over a hundred episodes. Android readers who want offline reading are the one group that gets more here than elsewhere, through the PLUS app.

Genres and tags

The Genre + menu has six tabs: Romance, GL, BL, Action, SF/Fantasy and Drama. BL and GL each get a tab of their own, next to Romance. Our pages on BL comics and webtoons and GL and yuri compare the platforms that carry them.

Below the genres sits a Browse by Tag page with about a hundred theme tags (Omegaverse, Romantasy and Isekai among them) and a set of price tags: 20COINS, 25COINS, 30COINS, 40COINS and 50↑COINS. With those you can filter series by what an episode costs before opening any of them.

Mature content: website, store apps and the PLUS APK

Lezhin's R-rated catalog lives in two places, and neither is a store app.

On the website, mature titles are hidden until you switch them on. The 18+ switch sits next to the coin icon, and clicking it while logged out sends you to the login page. Until then the catalog shows softened versions of the mature hits, labelled Jinx (Introduction) or Roses and Champagne - All-Ages Edition. What check Lezhin runs after login (a birthday, a click, something else) is not visible without an account.

The App Store and Play Store apps carry no R-rated titles at all. A Lezhin developer reply on its App Store listing explains:

Due to Apple's policy, mature content cannot be provided on apps. Therefore, unfortunately we do not provide any mature content in our app. We recommend you to check Lezhin Comics website if you want to access all contents.

Apple's rules leave little room. Guideline 1.1.4 bans Overtly sexual or pornographic material outright. So an iPhone reader who wants the R-rated editions reads them in Safari.

Lezhin publishes no statement on whether its R-rated editions are censored, uncensored or edited. The PLUS page says Access All R-Rated Content!, and that is as far as the official wording goes.

Lezhin Comics PLUS: the Android APK

Android readers have a third route. Lezhin offers its own app, Lezhin Comics PLUS, as an APK downloaded from lezhinus.com instead of Google Play. Its page is a single image, and the claims on it are these: Access All R-Rated Content!, Download Titles & Read Offline, Better Coin Deals! and Save Up to 26% on Coins Daily. It also says LEZHIN COMICS PLUS IS ONLY AVAILABLE ON ANDROID. and walks you through allowing installs from unknown sources.

As general advice, sideloading is safe only as long as the file comes from the publisher. Download the APK from Lezhin's own PLUS page and nowhere else, and consider switching the unknown-sources permission off again once the app is installed. There is no iPhone equivalent.

Free episodes on Lezhin

Lezhin is free to sample. The rankings show labels such as 5 Eps free and 9 Eps free, and the App Store listing says You can view free content without signing up. A Free menu collects titles with open episodes.

The Free page also shows a WUF label, a timed free scheme of the wait-until-free kind. Lezhin publishes no rules for it that we could find, so we cannot say how long the wait is. The general idea is explained under wait for free. Beyond the free episodes, you pay per episode.

Lezhin coin prices and what an episode costs

The web coin shop needs a login. What is public is the in-app purchase list on the US App Store listing:

Source: apps.apple.com. Prices change with region, promotions and the store you buy through.

Apple's list mixes two coin scales. Next to packs like 400 coins plus 45 bonus for $9.99, it also shows items such as "20 Coins" for $4.99 and "42 Coins" for $9.99, which look like older products. We use the larger-scale packs for the sums below, because they match the per-episode prices on the series pages.

The arithmetic, using Lezhin's own numbers:

  • $9.99 buys 400 paid coins, about 2.5 cents a coin. A 20-coin episode costs about $0.50, or about $0.45 if you count the 45 bonus coins.
  • A 50-coin episode at the same rate costs about $1.25.
  • The $2.99 pack (120 plus 40 coins) works out to about 37 cents for a 20-coin episode if every coin is spent.

For scale, a 50-episode series at 20 coins an episode is 1,000 coins, about $25 at the $9.99 pack's rate. That is roughly five months of Tappytoon's $4.99 Club, so Lezhin suits reading a few series closely better than sampling many. The page data for The Beast of Blue Obsidian, for example, shows 20 coins per episode. Google Play lists in-app items from $0.49 to $94.99.

The PLUS APK claims savings of Up to 26% on Coins Daily, which would make Android the cheapest place to buy if the claim holds; the actual PLUS prices are not public. The full price picture, including the web shop once it can be checked, is on the Lezhin coins price page.

Coin expiry and refunds

The terms allow a refund within 7 days of buying coins, and only if none of them were used: refunds are not provided if you have used any portion of that Virtual Currency purchase. Coins may be subject to expiration, which period will be specified when you make a purchase, so check the expiry line at checkout, especially on bonus coins.

Lezhin has no subscription, so there is nothing to cancel. "Unlock all" buys every paid episode of a series in one go. How far that counts as owning the episodes is left to the license wording in the terms.

Google Play listing for Lezhin Comics with a Teen rating and in-app purchases

Apps and the website

  • iPhoneYesLezhin Comics-Premium Webtoons, rated 12+; no R-rated titles in the store build
  • AndroidYesPlay Store app (Play rating 13+) plus the separate Lezhin Comics PLUS APK from lezhinus.com for R-rated titles
  • BrowserYesfull catalogue on the website; the 18+ content-mode switch requires a login

The App Store build, Lezhin Comics-Premium Webtoons, is rated 12+ with an advisory for Infrequent/Mild Sexual Content and Nudity. The Play build is rated 13+ and, according to its listing, contains ads. Both read the all-ages catalog only. The website carries everything and works on a phone browser; the PLUS APK is the only app with the R-rated titles. More on that split is in our guide to reading adult comics on mobile.

Offline reading

Only through PLUS. The terms say Certain functionalities of our Service may enable you to download content ... for offline access, and the PLUS page advertises Download Titles & Read Offline. Those are in-app downloads, not files you can move to another reader. The website and the store apps make no offline claim. Other services with downloads are compared on the offline reading page.

Submitting work to Lezhin

Lezhin is a publisher, so creators pitch instead of uploading. The footer's Submission dialog asks for Over 4 completed episodes along with a detailed explanation of the title (including genre, synopsis, character bios), sent to submit_us@lezhin.com. There is no self-publishing, no creator subscription and no tipping, and the publishing contract terms are not published.

Content rules and tags

Lezhin has no published rule set for the comics themselves. Its Content Policy covers posts and comments, where it bans Posts containing obscene or sexual material that may cause abnormal sexual arousal or sexual humiliation. We found no statement that all characters are adults in the terms, the Content Policy or on the PLUS page.

The Browse by Tag page includes setting tags such as HighSchool and Teacher_Student; logged out, all 45 results under HighSchool were marked as non-adult titles in the page data, and mature titles stay hidden until an adult account switches them on.

On age, the terms ask users to affirm they are over 18 or have a parent's or guardian's consent, with a hard floor: IF YOU ARE 13 OR UNDER, YOU ARE PROHIBITED FROM USING OUR SERVICE.

Account, privacy and billing

You can read free episodes without an account. Buying coins and switching on mature content both need one. Lezhin does not publish the name on a card statement, and its Play Data safety summary did not load when checked, so there is little to report on data collection beyond the privacy policy itself. Because coins are prepaid and nothing renews, the billing side is simpler than at subscription services.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Episode prices are visible per title, and you can filter by them
  • No subscription to forget about
  • Strong BL and GL lists with their own tabs
  • R-rated catalog reachable on the web and through an official Android APK, with offline reading there
  • Refund within 7 days if no coins were used

Cons

  • No R-rated titles in the iPhone app
  • The PLUS app is a sideloaded APK, not a Play Store app
  • Coins get expensive on long series
  • Web coin prices and the age check need an account to see

Lezhin alternatives

Tappytoon is the nearest match in model: licensed manhwa paid per episode, with 18+ editions on the web only. It labels them [Steamy] for censored and [Uncut] for unabridged, which Lezhin does not, and a 300-point episode costs about 38 cents on its $4.99 pack. Lezhin vs Tappytoon goes through the differences.

For a flat price, Toomics VIP covers most of its catalog for one subscription, and TOPTOON Plus has gone membership-only. Our Toomics and Lezhin comparison sets coins against VIP. Manta keeps its 18+ "Full ver." editions on the web, like Lezhin, and adds a membership library.

Ranked options are on the NSFW webtoon sites list, and Lezhin alternatives sorts them by what you are leaving Lezhin for.

FAQ

Is Lezhin Comics free?

Partly. Many series open with several free episodes, readable without signing up, and some titles carry a timed WUF free label. Everything after that costs coins.

How much do Lezhin coins cost?

On the US App Store, 400 coins plus 45 bonus cost $9.99, about 2.5 cents a coin. Episodes cost 20 to 50 or more coins depending on the title, so roughly 50 cents to $1.25 each. Web prices need a login.

Why can't I see mature content in the Lezhin app?

Lezhin says Apple's policy prevents it, and the Play Store app has none either. Mature titles are on the website after login, and in the Android-only Lezhin Comics PLUS APK.

Is Lezhin Comics PLUS official?

Yes. It is Lezhin's own Android app, offered from a page on lezhinus.com instead of Google Play. Download it only from that page.

Does Lezhin have a subscription?

No. Lezhin sells prepaid coins and has no subscription plan on the US site or in the App Store list.

Can I get a refund on Lezhin coins?

Within 7 days of purchase, and only if you have not used any of the coins from that purchase.

Final verdict

Verdict

Lezhin Comics is the store for readers who follow specific Korean series, especially BL and GL, and want to see an episode's price before paying it. At about 50 cents for a 20-coin episode it is fair for a few series and costly for a binge. Android readers get the best version of it through the PLUS APK, with the R-rated catalog and offline reading; iPhone readers get the same catalog in a browser and nothing more. Read the expiry line at checkout before buying a large pack.
