GL Webtoon 18+ and Yuri Manga

A GL webtoon 18+ is a girls' love comic sold in an adult edition, and 11 services carry a category for it: Lezhin, Tappytoon, Lalatoon, Manta, Tapas, INKR, WebComics, BookWalker, MangaPlaza, FAKKU and Irodori Comics. That is three fewer than carry BL, and the gap shows at MangaPlaza, where the Yuri shelf holds 72 titles against 2,140 for Boys' Love.

In short

Lezhin's GL tab is one of six on its Genre+ page, next to Romance, BL, Action, SF/Fantasy and Drama. Yuri means stories of romantic or sexual relationships between women, and GL (girls' love) is the publishing label. The fan site Yuricon puts it more widely: yuri can describe any anime or manga series (or other derivative media, i.e., fan fiction, film, etc.) that shows intense emotional connection, romantic love or physical desire between women. The word comes from the 1970s Japanese term yurizoku, "lily tribe".

Some older glossaries split yuri, which they call explicit, from shojo-ai, which they call non-explicit. That split is dated and is not used here. The stores label a series GL or Yuri, then rate each edition separately.

Where a GL webtoon 18+ is sold

Eleven, and the labels differ. Lezhin, Tappytoon, Lalatoon, Manta, Tapas, INKR and WebComics say GL. BookWalker, FAKKU, Irodori Comics and MangaPlaza say Yuri. Tappytoon has no GL URL, so look for the filter on its Discover page. Lalatoon's GL tab is genre 3970; Manta's is a GL subtab; Tapas has a GL tab (subtab 25); INKR has a GL page.

Three services that sell adult webtoons have BL tabs and no GL one: Toomics, TOPTOON Plus and MangaToon. Readers on those sites have no GL menu to start from.

The size difference is easiest to see on MangaPlaza. Its genre directory counts 72 Yuri titles and 2,140 Boys' Love titles. FAKKU and Irodori Comics tag works as Yuri, and Irodori's tag list also carries Gay, so the same catalogue holds both. On MangaPlaza, 4 of the 72 Yuri titles also sit under the Workplace Romance subgenre.

What reading costs

Lalatoon charges 3 clovers an episode. A 25-clover pack is $3.99 and a 500-clover pack is $47.99, so an episode costs between $0.29 and $0.48. Manta sells 1,250 Gems for $9.99; its episodes cost 30-60 Gems, so 40 Gems is about $0.32 and 50 is about $0.40. Its Standard membership is $4.99 a month or $49.90 a year and covers the Unlimited Library of 300+ series.

Tappytoon episodes showed 300 points on a [Steamy] series, and 3,900 points cost $4.99, which is near $0.38 an episode. Its Club plan is $4.99 a month or $47.99 a year. Lezhin sells coins only: episodes start at 20 coins, and the $5.99 pack of 240 coins puts one near $0.50. INKR rents chapters with Ink earned from tasks, sells coins at about $0.062 each and offers INKR Extra at $4.99 a month on iOS.

MangaPlaza points are $0.01, Premium is $6.99 a month, and the cancel route is the website only. BookWalker coins are $0.01. FAKKU's Unlimited cards are $14.95 for 30 days, $44.85 for 90 and $179 for 365. Irodori Comics publishes no price list; it sells uncensored, DRM-free PDFs title by title, and users in Japan are blocked from the uncensored editions.

Reading GL next to the other genres

On the webtoon stores GL is rarely alone in the menu. Lezhin places it beside BL and Romance, Manta lists Romance, BL and GL as separate subtabs, and Lalatoon puts BL, GL, Romance and Fantasy tabs on one ranking page. Tapas keeps GL (subtab 25) apart from LGBTQ+ (subtab 15), its general tab for queer stories.

Files you keep, and how to stop paying

Two sellers on the list let you own the comic. Irodori Comics delivers DRM-free PDFs. FAKKU sells downloadable book editions next to its Unlimited cards, and marks each title Uncensored, Mosaics or Whiteout, so read the tag before you pay. Everything else stays on the service.

Stopping is simple on the pay-as-you-go stores, since Lezhin and Lalatoon have no subscription to cancel. The rest depend on where you paid. Manta cancels through the App Store, Google Play or the web account, and signing out or deleting the app does not end it. Tappytoon Club ends through the store where you subscribed. MangaPlaza ends on its website only, and its 7-day Premium trial converts to a paid plan unless cancelled. FAKKU ends on the Subscription Settings page, with access running to the end of the billing period.

Free GL

The first episodes of a series are free on the webtoon stores. Manta's Free Pass opens an episode for 72 hours and resets after 24. Tappytoon has a Time Till Free episode every 24 hours on marked titles and weekly Free Tickets that last 48 hours. Lalatoon gives one coupon for every 72 hours after you read, except on the newest 20 episodes. MangaPlaza opens the first chapter of most titles. INKR has free titles with ads. FAKKU has a weekly free title, and Irodori Comics has about 14 artist-approved titles to read online for free. Tapas has Wait Until Free in its app, but it ends service on 2027-03-31, so do not buy Ink there. The free adult webtoons list has the timers for the others.

Phones and age gates

The adult GL editions sit mostly on the web. Manta says its 18+ Full versions are on the website for age-verified adults, and the age is the birth date typed at account creation. Tappytoon keeps its [Steamy] and [Uncut] editions out of the apps and asks for a login, an 18+ confirmation and a switch to mature mode. Lezhin's R-rated titles are on the website and in an Android-only PLUS APK, after a login. Tapas shows its Mature section on the web with a birthdate. MangaPlaza has no app and uses a self-declared 18+ toggle. FAKKU and Irodori Comics have no app found in US store searches, and each asks for a self-declaration.

WebComics lists a GL tab and is the one here that works fully in an app, and it carries no explicit editions: its website shows no age check. BookWalker and INKR have apps on iOS and Android; mature titles at BookWalker stay hidden until a signed-in toggle is on.

GL sits next to BL, romance, fantasy and drama. The glossary entry on GL sets out the terms. To compare the stores, try alternatives to Lezhin, the adult webtoon platform ranking and the erotic webtoons page. The genres hub lists every genre.

Close. Yuri is the older fan term for romantic or sexual stories between women, and GL (girls' love) is the publishing label for the same area.

Which store has the most yuri?

No webtoon store publishes a GL count. MangaPlaza shows 72 Yuri titles. We found no count for FAKKU's or Irodori Comics' tags.

Does Lezhin have GL?

Yes, as a Genre+ tab, with R-rated titles on the website and the Android PLUS APK only.

Can I read GL for free?

First episodes, yes, on every webtoon store above, plus FAKKU's weekly free title and Irodori Comics' free online titles.
