not obscene, indecent
. - Coins cost 100 for $0.99 at every pack size, about a cent each. Coins per episode show only in the app.

What MangaToon is
MangaToon is a comics app with a web reader at mangatoon.mobi. The footer names three companies, Mangatoon HK Limited, PT. Manga Toon Group and a Shanghai company, and the App Store seller is Mangatoon HK Limited. The app first appeared on the US App Store in July 2018. Its sister app NovelToon covers novels. MangaToon's own pages publish no title count, only reads per title.
The catalog has three layers. Licensed webtoons carry a line naming the licensor, such as MangaToon got authorization from Kuaikan Comics to publish this work
or the same with ComiJoy. Contributor works are tagged "Contributor". And a Fanfic category holds contributor fan comics built on other people's characters, which is fan work, so we would not call the whole catalog licensed. It belongs with the mainstream apps in our platform reviews.
What about One Piece?
The store blurb says you can search and read mangas like One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, Naruto
. A search for "one piece" in the site's comics returns "Comics 0 results", only user-written novels. No licensed Japanese manga showed up on the pages checked. Treat MangaToon as a manhua and manhwa app.
Who MangaToon suits
Readers who want free-to-start romance, CEO, revenge and BL manhua and are happy to earn chapters through tasks and ads. The genre menu tells you the flavor: Romance, Fantasy, CEO, Revenge, Harem, Contract Marriage, Time Travel, Boys' Love, System, Counterattack and so on, 23 tabs in all. It also suits readers outside English: the store lists English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Indonesian, Vietnamese and Thai, and the site adds German and Italian.
Readers searching for adult webtoons or hentai manga will not find them here.
Does MangaToon have adult content?
No. The App Store lists the app at 13+ with an advisory for "Infrequent/Mild Sexual Content and Nudity", and Google Play rates it 13+. The website shows the same catalog as the app, with no adult section and no age prompt on the home, genre or title pages.
The rules point the same way. Section 2 of the user agreement, on objectionable content, requires that The UGC is not obscene, indecent
. The terms set no minimum age; they address people under 18 using MangaToon with a guardian's guidance, and the VIP agreement says If you are under the age of 18, please read this Agreement in the presence of your legal guardian.
An app written for that audience is not going to host explicit comics.
The romance shelves are steamy in theme, as romance manhua tends to be, with Harem and Contract Marriage among the tabs. Explicit adult webtoons are sold by dedicated stores; how to find adult webtoons explains where to look.
What is free on MangaToon
There are several, and the App Store text lists them:
- Weekly free comics:
Every week, there are different comics released for manga readers to read for free
. - Points and reading vouchers from weekly tasks, which unlock chapters.
- Video ads:
you can still read free comics by watching a short video to unlock manga chapters.
Episode lists and early episodes are public on the website without an account. MangaToon is also frank that many of our comics require paying a unlocking fee to read
. Whether it runs a wait-for-free timer is not published outside the app. Free comic apps are compared on free comics apps for adults.
MangaToon coins and what an episode costs
Coins unlock episodes. They are sold in the app and in a web shop that takes PayPal:

Every pack works out the same: 100 coins per $0.99, about a cent a coin, with no bonus coins on either list. The US App Store goes from 100 coins for $0.99 to 5,000 for $49.99; the web shop, seen from an EU connection in US dollars, sells 600 for $5.99 up to 10,000 for $99.99. A big pack is no cheaper per coin than a small one, so buy only what you will use.
How many coins an episode costs is shown only in the app. Without that number there is no dollar figure per episode from MangaToon's public pages; check the first locked episode of a series and the sum is easy at a cent a coin. Readers new to this model can read how pay-per-chapter platforms work.
MangaToon VIP and the Pass Card
VIP is a monthly subscription: You can subscribe to VIP membership on a monthly basis.
The US App Store lists "MONTHLY VIP - EN" at $4.99, with a separate Vietnamese VIP at $1.99. What VIP gives you is not public. The VIP agreement says to Refer to the public notice on the VIP member center page at the time of opening
, and that page needs an account.
The money is gone once paid: After enabling the VIP membership subscription, fees paid are not refundable, regardless of whether you actually use the service
. VIP renews automatically under MangaToon's auto-renewal agreement. App Store subscribers turn renewal off in Apple's subscription settings; MangaToon does not explain how to cancel a VIP bought with PayPal on the web. The store routes are in our guide to cancelling comic subscriptions.
The App Store also lists a "Pass Card" at $11.99 with no description anywhere we could find. Skip it until MangaToon says what it is.

Is MangaToon safe? Privacy and billing
MangaToon is a licensed app listed on both stores, with a named operator and published terms. Its data collection is broad. Google Play's Data safety section lists app activity, in-app search history, installed apps, in-app messages, files, name, email, user IDs, device IDs and purchase history, plus optional location, audio and photos. It also says no data is shared with third parties, data is encrypted in transit, and deletion can be requested. The terms are governed by Singapore law.
Whether the History page can be cleared was not checked without an account. Our safety guide for comic sites covers what to look for in any reading app.
Publishing on MangaToon
MangaToon takes contributions through "Contribute" and "publish" in the site menu, or by email to contribute@mangatoon.mobi. Payout terms sit behind the contributor login. Two clauses in the user agreement are worth reading before uploading. Copyright in user-submitted translations belongs to the MangaToon, and MangaToon shall not pay for the users
; original works stay with the creator under a free non-exclusive license to MangaToon. Obscene and indecent uploads are banned, so this is no home for adult work.

Alternatives to MangaToon
For mainstream reading with a cleaner model, WEBTOON's Originals are free on a weekly schedule and its rules are published in full. GlobalComix mixes comics and manga with self-publishing and a Gold subscription at $6.99 a month; like MangaToon it accepts no explicitly sexual stories, though it allows nudity outside sex scenes. If you came for the adult side of Chinese and Korean webtoons, Honeytoon is an explicit, browser-only site whose catalog includes Chinese action and fantasy series, at 9 coins an episode. For actual Japanese adult manga, MangaPlaza has a large Adult Romance shelf for US readers, and FAKKU is the licensed English publisher of hentai manga. The best options by format are on adult manga apps.

Final verdict
Verdict
MangaToon is a generous free-to-start app for romance and BL manhua, with honest coin pricing at a cent a coin and real free routes. It is not an adult platform, its store blurb oversells the manga, and its VIP asks for money before it tells you what you get. Use the free routes, buy small coin packs, and skip VIP until the perks are public.
