In short
- MangaPlaza: 2,140 Boys' Love manga, 1,935 tagged Mature 18+, on a $6.99 a month Premium plan or at $0.01 a point.
- Webtoon stores with 18+ BL: Lezhin, Tappytoon, Lalatoon, Manta, Toomics, TOPTOON Plus and Tapas, mostly on the web.
- FAKKU and itch.io call it Yaoi; the other 12 services use BL or Boys' Love.
- MangaToon and WebComics carry BL without explicit editions.
BL, short for boys' love, is the publishing label for male/male romance aimed at women. Yaoi is the older fan term, and the more sexual one. The Anime News Network lexicon says Boy's Love (BL) is the usual term used by the Japanese publishing industry to categorize commercial works focusing on male/male relationships marketed at women. BL can refer both to content that focuses on romance, as well as content that is graphically sexual.
It adds that yaoi began as a doujinshi term, and that In Japan today, the term yaoi is mainly used to point to the sex scenes
and is no longer a genre label there. In the West, yaoi became a catchall. The glossary entry on BL covers the terms.
The BL label says nothing about the rating, which is set per edition. So the 14 services below are sorted by what each one sells.
Where to find bl webtoons 18+
Webtoon stores come first. Lezhin's BL tab sits among six Genre+ tabs, and its R-rated titles are on the website and in an Android-only PLUS APK. Tappytoon files BL on its Discover page, with [Steamy] editions partially censored and [Uncut] editions unabridged, web only. Lalatoon and Toomics share a genre id (7) on their ranking pages. Manta has a BL tab and 18+ Full versions on the website only. TOPTOON Plus keeps BL as a tab on its Genres page behind NSFW mode. Tapas has a BL tab (subtab 14) and a "BL Hot Picks" shelf in its Mature section, and ends service on 2027-03-31.
Manga stores come second. MangaPlaza's Boys' Love shelf holds 2,140 titles, and 91 of them also sit under Workplace Romance. The directory lists Omegaverse and BDSM as genres next to it. BookWalker shows Boys Love as a genre facet over its mature manga. INKR's BL page has free chapters with ads.
Then there are the sellers of files. FAKKU's Yaoi tag filters licensed English hentai manga. itch.io's yaoi tag lists indie comics sold or given away as DRM-free downloads by their creators.
MangaToon (category 9) and WebComics run BL tabs with no explicit edition.

What it costs
MangaPlaza is the easiest to price. One point is $0.01, a Premium plan is $6.99 a month, and there is a one-time 7-day trial per user and per payment method. Cancel under My Account, Premium Membership Details, Cancel Premium Membership, because email requests are not accepted. The first chapter of most titles is free. The service has no app and takes self-declared 18+ in a toggle.
Lalatoon is the pay-per-episode choice for BL and romance readers. A paid episode is 3 clovers; the 25-clover pack costs $3.99 and the 500-clover pack $47.99, so an episode costs $0.29 to $0.48. Toomics sells a VIP subscription instead: $8.99 or $9.99 for a month and $47.99 for a year, about $4.00 a month, with Store titles outside VIP at 1-3 coins each.
Manta Standard is $4.99 a month and $49.90 for twelve months, with an Unlimited Library of 300+ series; Gems cost $9.99 for 1,250, and a 40-Gem episode comes to about $0.32. Tappytoon Club is $4.99 a month or $47.99 a year, and one Steamy episode showed 300 points, near $0.38 on the 3,900-point pack. Lezhin has no subscription: episodes start at 20 coins and 240 coins cost $5.99. TOPTOON Plus is membership only and does not publish its price without an account.
FAKKU's Unlimited cards are $14.95 for 30 days, $44.85 for 90 and $179 for 365. BookWalker coins are worth $0.01 each, with mature titles shown only after a signed-in settings toggle.
Apps worth knowing
Ten of the 14 services have store apps for both iOS and Android: BookWalker, INKR, Lalatoon, Lezhin, MangaToon, Manta, Tapas, Tappytoon, Toomics and WebComics. What each app carries differs. Toomics' app is an all-ages build with no adult series, BookWalker hides mature titles until a signed-in settings toggle is on, and Lalatoon's iOS listing is rated 12+. INKR's app is where its downloads work, but only for INKR Extra members at $4.99 a month on iOS. For anything marked 18+, assume the browser until the store page says otherwise.
Free reading
Every webtoon store above gives away first episodes. Manta opens a Free Pass episode for 72 hours and resets it after 24. Tappytoon has a Time Till Free episode every 24 hours on marked titles and 48-hour Free Tickets each week. Lalatoon gives one coupon 72 hours after an episode, but not for the newest 20 episodes. Toomics opens the first three chapters, sometimes more. TOPTOON Plus opens the first episodes after login. Tapas adds Wait Until Free in its app. FAKKU runs one weekly free title, and itch.io has free and pay-what-you-want comics set by each creator. See the page on free adult webtoons for the timers side by side.
Phones, age gates and the non-explicit two
The 18+ BL editions open in the browser. Manta, Tappytoon and Tapas keep them off their apps, Lezhin keeps them out of its store builds, and MangaPlaza has no app at all. Manta takes the birth date typed at account creation and does not let you change it. Lezhin asks for a login before its mature switch works. Tappytoon asks you to log in, confirm 18+ and switch to mature mode. itch.io puts a date-of-birth gate on NSFW browse pages. FAKKU asks for a self-declaration checkbox at sign-up and has no app in a US App Store search.
MangaToon (Boys' Love category) and WebComics (BL tab) are not adult services. MangaToon's rules ban obscene or indecent uploads, and neither shows an age check. They suit a reader who wants BL romance without explicit editions and with app support on iOS and Android.
