In short
- Per episode the two are close: a 300-point Tappytoon episode costs 35 to 43 cents depending on the pack, a 20-coin Lezhin episode 37 to 57 cents depending on the pack and whether you count bonus coins.
- Tappytoon labels its 18+ editions: [Steamy] is partially censored, [Uncut] is the unabridged work. Lezhin publishes no such distinction.
- Both keep 18+ titles out of the iPhone app. Lezhin's Android PLUS app carries them; Tappytoon's are on the website only.
- Lezhin refunds unused coins within 7 days. Tappytoon says all purchases are final.
- Tappytoon Club costs $4.99 a month and adds 4,400 points, about 14 episodes at 300 points.
Lezhin and Tappytoon both sell licensed Korean manhwa in English, one episode at a time, and both put their explicit editions behind a login on the website. The differences are in the details readers ask about on forums: what each edition contains, how far the free routes go, and whether there is any app that shows the 18+ titles. More pairings are on our platform comparisons page.

Catalog and formats
Both are publishers' stores, with every title licensed. Lezhin's US store (run by Lezhin Entertainment, LLC) sorts its webtoons into Romance, GL, BL, Action, SF/Fantasy and Drama, with a long theme-tag list on top. Tappytoon (Contents First, Inc.) filters by Romance, Action, BL, Fantasy, Drama and GL, plus a Steamy shelf filter on Discover. Title pages there read "Published by Tappytoon under license from partners."
Neither publishes a catalog size. Tappytoon comics come in English, French and German, and the store also sells web novels in English. Lezhin's US site is English only and adds new episodes daily, at 5:00am PST per its App Store text.
Explicit editions and what the labels mean
Tappytoon is the only one of the two that explains its adult editions. Its help center describes two labels. [Steamy] covers censored titles that still carry themes or depictions of adult situations
, with "partially censored imagery". [Uncut] marks titles that are unabridged and contain the full work, and may include explicit or adult themes and depictions
. Both labels are for readers 18 and over. Steamy and all-ages versions of a series are separate purchases, and unlocks do not carry over between them.
Lezhin sells R-rated editions on its website and in its Android PLUS app, but says nothing official about whether they are censored. Logged out, you only see versions labelled "(Introduction)" or "- All-Ages Edition", so the mature catalog stays hidden until you sign in and switch it on. If you care whether you are buying the complete work, Tappytoon's [Uncut] label is the clearer promise. The adult manhwa page covers which other stores sell unabridged editions.

Free reading
Tappytoon has more free routes, and they are documented:
- Free first episodes on many titles (PASSION [Steamy] has episodes 0 to 2 free).
- Time Till Free: on marked titles, one episode every 24 hours, which locks again after the free period.
- Weekly Free Tickets that open a locked episode for 48 hours.
- Points earned by watching video ads or completing partner offers.
Lezhin's free reading is the first episodes of many series (rankings show "5 Eps free" and similar) and a timed free label called WUF on its Free page. Lezhin publishes no rules for WUF. Free episodes are readable without an account, per its App Store listing; Tappytoon lets you browse without an account but says there may be limitations.
Prices and what an episode costs
Both price episodes per title, so these are worked examples from one series each, with pack prices from the US App Store.
| Lezhin | Tappytoon | |
|---|---|---|
| Example episode price | 20 coins (The Beast of Blue Obsidian) | 300 points (PASSION [Steamy]) |
| Small pack | 120 + 40 coins for $2.99 (about $0.50 an episode on paid coins, $0.37 with bonus) | 1,400 points for $1.99 (about $0.43 an episode) |
| Mid pack | 400 + 45 bonus coins for $9.99 (about $0.50 an episode on paid coins, $0.45 with bonus) | 3,900 points for $4.99 (about $0.38 an episode) |
| Large pack | 560 + 150 coins for $15.99 (about $0.57 on paid coins, $0.45 with bonus) | 17,000 points for $19.99 (about $0.35 an episode) |
| Bulk discount | "Unlock all" button; discount not stated | 10% off when unlocking 20 or more episodes |
Lezhin's tag list shows episodes priced at 20, 25, 30, 40 and 50-plus coins, so a 40-coin episode costs about $1 on the $9.99 pack. Both App Store lists carry duplicate or older packs (Lezhin also sells "20 Coins" for $4.99; Tappytoon lists 7,800 and 8,000 points at the same $9.99), and both web shops need a login. Lezhin's PLUS app advertises up to 26% off coins daily without a price list.
Tappytoon also has a subscription, which Lezhin lacks. Club Standard is $4.99 a month or $47.99 a year. It adds 4,400 points on the first day of each cycle (about 14 episodes at 300 points), 30 bonus points a day, and Time Till Free every 12 hours instead of 24. A VIP tier adds 8,000 points a month and a lounge of 30-plus free series, but Tappytoon does not publish its price. The Club's 4,400 points are more than the 3,900 that $4.99 buys as a one-off pack, so the faster free timer and the daily bonus cost nothing extra. Full price lists are on Tappytoon pricing and Lezhin's coin prices.

App or website: where the 18+ titles are
Tappytoon is web only for adult editions: Due to Apple and Google platform policies, steamy comics are available only on our website and mobile website.
The App Store app is rated 17+ and the Play app 13+, and neither shows Steamy or Uncut editions. Unlocked steamy episodes do show in your library in the app, so you can keep track there.
Lezhin's App Store (12+) and Play (13+) apps are clean too. The difference is the Lezhin Comics PLUS APK, which Lezhin offers from its own site: "Access All R-Rated Content!" and "only available on Android". It installs from outside Google Play. On an iPhone both services send you to the browser. Our guide to reading adult comics on mobile walks through the browser route.
Offline reading
Lezhin PLUS advertises "Download Titles & Read Offline", and its terms describe downloads for offline access inside the service. Tappytoon's help center does not document offline downloads, so we cannot say it has them.
Age check
Tappytoon explains the steps: log in, confirm you are 18 or older, click the "All-ages" button and select "mature mode". Lezhin's 18+ switch sends logged-out visitors to the login page. Neither says publicly whether the confirmation after login is a checkbox, a birth date or a document check. Tappytoon's terms set a minimum age of 16; Lezhin's set 13, with an affirmation of 18 or guardian consent.
Refunds and privacy
Lezhin allows a refund request within 7 days of buying coins, only if none have been used. Its terms add that coins "may be subject to expiration", with the period stated at purchase. Tappytoon has no refunds: all purchases and unlocks of comics or chapters are final and no refund can be made
. Club renews automatically and is cancelled through the store you subscribed in.
Tappytoon's Google Play data safety label says it may share name, email address, user IDs and device IDs, including for advertising. Lezhin's label did not load when checked. Neither publishes its card statement name.
Which one should you pick?
Pick Tappytoon if you want to know what you are buying. The Steamy and Uncut labels tell you whether an edition is partially censored or complete, the free routes are generous and spelled out, and a 300-point episode costs the same as or less than a 20-coin Lezhin one on most packs. If you read more than a dozen episodes a month, the $4.99 Club makes sense. Accept that you will read 18+ editions in a browser and that nothing is refundable.
Pick Lezhin if you are on Android and want the mature catalog in an app with offline downloads, or if you want the option of a refund on coins you have not touched. It also suits readers who follow its BL and GL lists. On an iPhone, Lezhin offers no advantage over Tappytoon.
Readers who want neither can start with Tappytoon alternatives or alternatives to Lezhin.
FAQ
Which is cheaper, Lezhin or Tappytoon?
They are close. A 300-point Tappytoon episode costs about 35 to 43 cents depending on the pack; a 20-coin Lezhin episode costs about 50 cents on paid coins, or 37 to 45 cents counting bonus coins. Both set prices per title, so a 40-coin Lezhin episode costs about a dollar. Tappytoon's Club adds about 14 episodes' worth of points for $4.99 a month.
Can I read Tappytoon Uncut in the app?
No. Steamy and Uncut editions are on the website and mobile website only, because of Apple and Google policies. You need to log in, confirm you are 18 or older and switch to mature mode.
Does Tappytoon give refunds?
No. Tappytoon's help center and terms say all purchases and unlocks are final. Lezhin allows a refund request within 7 days if none of the coins were used.
What is the difference between Steamy and Uncut on Tappytoon?
Steamy editions are censored but still carry adult themes, with partially censored imagery. Uncut editions are unabridged and contain the full work, which may include explicit depictions. Both are for readers 18 and over.
Is the Lezhin PLUS app on Google Play?
No. Lezhin Comics PLUS is an APK downloaded from Lezhin's own website. The Play Store app carries no R-rated titles.
