In short

  • Point packs in the US App Store run from 1,400 points for $1.99 to 17,000 points for $19.99.
  • A 300-point episode costs about 43 cents on the smallest pack and about 34 cents on the sale pack, with 10% off when you unlock 20 or more at once.
  • Club Standard is $4.99 a month for 4,400 points plus daily bonus points, which beats buying the $4.99 pack.
  • All purchases are final. Club is cancelled in the store you subscribed through.

What Tappytoon charges

Tappytoon sells points, and points unlock episodes. On top of that sits Tappytoon Club, a monthly or yearly membership that pays you points every cycle and shortens the free waits. The web point shop needs an account, so the pack prices below come from the US App Store list and the Club prices from Tappytoon's help center.

Source: support.tappytoon.com. Prices change with region, promotions and the store you buy through.

Apple lists two sets of point items: 7,800 and 8,000 points both at $9.99, 16,500 and 17,000 both at $19.99, plus an 8,800-point "[Sale]" item at $9.99. Apple does not say which set is current. Google Play shows only the range, $1.99 to $99.99 per item.

What one Tappytoon episode costs

Episode prices are set per title. PASSION [Steamy] charges 300 points an episode after three free ones, with a "10% 20+ Bulk Discount" when you unlock 20 or more. Using that title:

PackPriceSumOne 300-point episode
1,400 points$1.99300 x $1.99 / 1,400about $0.43
3,900 points$4.99300 x $4.99 / 3,900about $0.38
7,800 points$9.99300 x $9.99 / 7,800about $0.38
17,000 points$19.99300 x $19.99 / 17,000about $0.35
8,800 points [Sale]$9.99300 x $9.99 / 8,800about $0.34

With the bulk discount an episode drops to 270 points, about 32 cents on the 17,000-point pack. The spread between the worst and best pack is under ten cents an episode, so the pack matters less than whether you take Club.

One more cost hides in the labels. A [Steamy] edition and the all-ages edition of the same series are separate purchases, and unlocks do not carry over between them. Pick the edition you want before spending.

Is Tappytoon Club worth it?

Club Standard costs $4.99 a month or $47.99 a year, which Tappytoon puts at $3.99 a month. It gives:

  • 4,400 points on the first day of each cycle
  • 30 bonus points a day
  • Time Till Free every 12 hours instead of every 24

The arithmetic is short. $4.99 buys 3,900 points as a pack or 4,400 points through Club, so Club is 500 points ahead before any bonus. 4,400 / 300 = about 14 episodes a month at about 34 cents each. If you also collect the 30 daily points for a 30-day month, that adds 900 points, three more episodes, and brings the cost to about 28 cents an episode. Anyone who would spend $5 a month on points anyway pays less through Club.

A newer VIP tier adds 8,000 points a month and "30+ Free Series" in a VIP Lounge, but Tappytoon's notice does not print its price, so it cannot be compared.

What is free on Tappytoon

Tappytoon has four free routes:

  • Free first episodes on many titles (episodes 0 to 2 on PASSION [Steamy]).
  • Time Till Free: on marked titles, one episode free every 24 hours, one at a time. The episode locks again after the free period.
  • Free Tickets, handed out weekly, which open a locked episode for 48 hours.
  • Points earned by watching video ads or completing partner offers.

Episodes unlocked with points stay in your unlock history permanently. Free reads do not.

Website vs App Store and Google Play

The 18+ editions are on the website only. Tappytoon's help center says Due to Apple and Google platform policies, steamy comics are available only on our website and mobile website. To see them you log in, confirm you are 18 or older, click "All-ages" and choose mature mode.

Club itself is sold through the apps; the Club page tells readers to download the app to join. So a reader may pay in the App Store or Google Play and then read [Steamy] and [Uncut] titles in a browser. Web point prices need a login and could not be compared with the store's.

Renewal and how to cancel Tappytoon Club

Club renews by itself: the store will automatically charge and renew your membership every subscription cycle. Cancel it where you bought it:

  1. iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Tappytoon, Cancel Subscription.
  2. Android: the Google Play subscriptions page, Tappytoon, Cancel subscription. Uninstalling the app does not cancel it.

Google says access runs to the end of the period already paid. Apple's cancellation page does not say. More detail for other services is in how to cancel a comic subscription.

Refunds

Tappytoon gives none. Its help center says all purchases and unlocks of comics or chapters are final and no refund can be made, and the terms repeat it in capitals for virtual currency. Google's own page says some Play purchases may qualify for a refund through Google, which is a request to Google, not to Tappytoon.

How to pay less on Tappytoon

  • If you spend $5 or more a month, take Club Standard: more points than the $4.99 pack, plus daily points and faster Time Till Free.
  • The yearly Club ($47.99) cuts the monthly price to about $4.00.
  • Unlock 20 or more episodes of a series together to get the 10% bulk discount on titles that show it.
  • Buy the "[Sale]" pack when it appears: 8,800 points for $9.99 is the best rate on the list.
  • Use Time Till Free and Free Tickets on the series you read slowly, and spend points only on the ones you binge.

What needs an account to see

Web point prices, the VIP price and the 18+ editions need a login. Steamy titles and their episode lists are visible logged out, so you can check a series' point price before signing up.
