In short

  • Sell by the episode with coins or points: Lezhin, Toomics, Tappytoon, Manta, Lalatoon, Honeytoon, INKR, WEBTOON, MangaPlaza and BookWalker.
  • Published or computable price per episode: Lalatoon $0.29 to $0.48, Tappytoon $0.35 to $0.43, Manta $0.32 to $0.50, Lezhin about $0.50, Honeytoon about 22 to 39 euro cents.
  • Coins that never expire: Toomics, bought WEBTOON coins and BookWalker. MangaPlaza points last 36 months, Honeytoon coins 12 months under its terms, Lalatoon paid clovers 5 years.
  • Refunds exist only for unspent coins in a short window on Lezhin, Toomics and Lalatoon (7 days). Tappytoon, Manta, MangaPlaza and Tapas say no.

Pay per chapter comics means you buy each episode or chapter with money converted into coins, points or gems, and get access to that one episode. Nobody bills you monthly and nothing renews. The adult webtoon stores run on this model, usually next to an optional membership. Our guide to how pay per chapter works explains the mechanics and the glossary entry defines the term; this page lists who does it and what it costs, among the other platform features we track.

Coins or credits Coins discontinued; leftover coins still buy episodes

Lezhin and Lalatoon are pure coin services with no subscription. Toomics, Tappytoon, Manta, Honeytoon, MangaPlaza and INKR run both: a membership for a library and coins for the rest. WEBTOON sells Fast Pass episodes for coins in its app only. TOPTOON Plus stopped selling coins and is membership only, though leftover coins still buy episodes. Tapas cannot sell Ink any more: Ink could not be acquired from October 1, 2026, and the service closes on March 31, 2027.

The 18+ editions mostly sit on websites, so the coins you spend there are web coins. Lalatoon says plainly that coins bought on the web and in the app cannot be combined.

What one episode costs in real money

None of these services prints a dollar price on the episode. They print a coin price, and the pack you bought decides the rest. Here is the arithmetic from the files.

  • Lalatoon: 3 clovers per episode on every series checked. The web packs run from 25 clovers for $3.99 ($0.48 an episode) to 500 clovers for $47.99 ($0.29).
  • Tappytoon: 300 points for a Steamy episode, with a 10% discount at 20 or more. 3,900 points for $4.99 gives $0.38; 1,400 for $1.99, $0.43; 17,000 for $19.99, $0.35.
  • Manta: 40 to 60 Gems an episode since the scale changed on March 31, 2026. At 1,250 Gems for $9.99 a 40-Gem episode is about $0.32 and a 50-Gem one about $0.40; at the $1.99 bundle, 50 Gems is about $0.50.
  • Lezhin: 20 coins an episode on the series checked, up to 50 or more on others. At 400 coins for $9.99 that is about $0.50 for 20 coins, or $0.45 with the 45 bonus coins.
  • Honeytoon: 9 coins an episode. The 700-coin pack costs EUR 29.99 (about 39 euro cents an episode) and the 2,000-coin pack EUR 49.99 (about 22 cents). Dollar prices need an account.

For the rest, a dollar figure cannot be worked out from published numbers. Toomics charges 1 to 3 coins a chapter and does not publish the coin price in dollars; its App Store coin items show $9.99 and $19.99 with no coin counts. WEBTOON sets Fast Pass prices per series, shown in the app before you unlock; its coins run from 10 for $0.99 to 100 plus 8 for $9.99. MangaPlaza and BookWalker use a point or coin worth one cent, and MangaPlaza adult listings showed $1.99 and $2.00, though the listings do not say whether that is a chapter or a volume. INKR's iOS coins cost about 6.2 cents each and its per-chapter coin price is not stated. Tapas last published 375 to 450 Ink an episode in 2023, with no public Ink-to-dollar rate.

Each service's coin packs, with the bonus coins, have their own page: Lezhin coin prices, Toomics prices, Tappytoon points and Club and Manta membership and Gems. Whether coins beat a membership depends on how much you read; the subscription vs pay per chapter comparison does that sum.

Do the coins expire

It differs by service. Apple's App Store guideline 3.1.1 says credits bought through in-app purchase may not expire. The list below follows each service's own pages, which do not say how they square with that rule for store-bought coins.

  • Never expire: Toomics bought and bonus coins; WEBTOON bought coins (free coins expire and are spent first); BookWalker purchased coins (promotional coins expire).
  • Expire: MangaPlaza points after 36 months, with a 100,000-point cap; Lalatoon paid clovers after 5 years and bonus clovers after 1 year; Honeytoon coins after 12 months under its May 2026 payment policy, although its FAQ still says there is no time limit; Toomics' 5 monthly VIP Gift Coins at month end; Tapas Bonus Ink.
  • Unclear: Lezhin's terms say coins may be subject to expiration, which period will be specified when you make a purchase. For Tappytoon, Manta and INKR the files record no expiry rule.

Refunds and what you keep

Refund windows are short and conditional. Lezhin and Lalatoon refund within 7 days of buying coins if none were used, and Lalatoon excludes bonus coins. Toomics gives 7 days on coins with none used and 14 days on a VIP plan if no VIP content was read. Honeytoon calls coins generally non-refundable but accepts a voluntary refund request by email within 120 days. WEBTOON will not refund coins already spent on Fast Pass, and purchases made through Apple or Google go back through them.

Tappytoon, Manta, MangaPlaza, BookWalker, TOPTOON Plus and Tapas say purchases are final, with only site errors as an exception at MangaPlaza. What an unlocked episode is worth afterwards also differs. Tappytoon says episodes unlocked with points stay in your unlock history, Manta says series unlocked with Gems stay in the library even if the series leaves, and Toomics describes bought chapters as like owning a digital copy. At Lalatoon, purchased episodes give unlimited access. Tappytoon's and Lezhin's terms frame this as a licence, and Tapas shows the risk: unlocked episodes become inaccessible when it closes.

Services that sell by the book instead

FAKKU sells whole books and doujinshi (a 63-page doujin was $8.50 when we looked) or a subscription for magazine chapters, with no coins at all. Irodori Comics sells single doujinshi from $5.25 and has no subscription. Both appear in the files as pay per title, not pay per chapter, and they refund little: FAKKU within 3 days if the book was not downloaded, Irodori only a duplicate purchase within 24 hours. The creator-side tradeoffs are in subscriptions vs pay per chapter for creators.

FAQ

How much does a webtoon episode cost?

On the services that publish coin prices, about $0.29 to $0.50 for an 18+ episode, depending on the size of the coin pack. Toomics, WEBTOON and Tapas do not publish enough to say.

Which adult webtoon sites sell by the episode?

Lezhin, Toomics, Tappytoon, Manta, Lalatoon and Honeytoon all do, and Lezhin and Lalatoon have no subscription at all.

Do webtoon coins expire?

Not on Toomics or for WEBTOON's bought coins. MangaPlaza points expire after 36 months, Honeytoon coins after 12 under its terms (its FAQ says no limit) and Lalatoon paid clovers after 5 years.

Can I get a refund on unused coins?

On Lezhin, Toomics and Lalatoon, within 7 days of purchase if no coin was spent. Tappytoon and Manta say all purchases are final.

Is pay per chapter cheaper than a subscription?

For a few episodes a month, yes. At a dozen or more it can reverse, depending on the membership. The comparison page works out the break-even.
