Manta subscription price

Manta's two ways to pay

Manta mixes a membership with pay-per-episode Gems. Membership opens the Unlimited Library, which Manta puts at 300+ titles. Gems unlock episodes outside it, and some titles, including some 18+ full versions, are Gem-only even for members. Manta used to be subscription-only; it no longer is.

Manta subscription price: Standard vs Premium

Standard is the library and nothing else, plus extra Gems whenever you buy a bundle (up to 400 extra on one and three-month plans, up to 900 on twelve months). Divided out, the longer plans save a little:

• 1 month: $4.99
• 3 months: $12.99 / 3 = about $4.33 a month
• 12 months: $49.90 / 12 = about $4.16 a month

Premium adds 1,420 Gems every month on top of the library. At the non-member rate, 1,250 Gems cost $9.99 on their own, so Premium on the web ($8.99) gives more Gems than $9.99 buys and throws in the library. 1,420 Gems cover about 28 episodes at 50 Gems. Anyone who would buy a $9.99 bundle each month is better off on web Premium.

Standard on the web has no published price; Manta's web notice gives only the Premium figure.

How Gems work and what one episode costs

On March 31, 2026 Manta multiplied every Gem figure by 10. Episodes that typically cost 3–6 Gems now cost 30 to 60, and Manta's own examples are 40 and 50 Gems. Apple's list still shows some old-scale names, such as "25 Gems" for $0.99, so go by the help center numbers.

Non-member bundles and the cost of one episode:

The sum for the middle row is $9.99 / 1,250 = 0.8 cents a Gem, times 50 = 40 cents. Past the $9.99 bundle there is no volume discount for non-members: $99.99 buys exactly ten times as many Gems as $9.99.

Members get more Gems per bundle. A Premium member's $9.99 bundle holds 1,420 Gems in the app or 1,500 on the web, which puts a 50-Gem episode at about 35 cents in the app and about 33 cents on the web. Series unlocked with Gems stay in your library even if the series leaves Manta.

What is free on Manta

The first few episodes of each series are free. On top of that, a Free Pass covers more than 400 comics: it unlocks one episode, the episode stays open for 72 hours, and the pass resets every 24 hours. It may not apply to the newest episodes. Downloads for offline reading are open to every user, members or not.

App vs web prices

Manta prices the web below the app, and says so in its own notice:

• Premium: $9.99 a month in the app, $8.99 on Manta Web.
• First month of Premium: $4.99 on the web for eligible new members during the current promotion.
• Premium members' bundles: 1,500 Gems on the web against 1,420 in the app for $9.99, and 15,000 against 14,300 for $99.99.
• Standard three and twelve-month plans: app only.

The 18+ material is on the web anyway. Manta's [Full ver.] editions, the complete form of a series, including all original story elements, are only offered in a browser because of app store rules, and the app shows versions tailored to be more suitable for its age rating. Readers who want the full versions pay less and read more by subscribing on the web.

Renewal and how to cancel Manta

Membership renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Signing out or deleting the app does not cancel it. The route depends on how you paid:

1. Manta Web: cancel from your account on the website.
2. iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Manta, Cancel Subscription.
3. Android: the Google Play subscriptions page, Manta, Cancel subscription.

Do it at least a day before renewal. Other services' routes are in how to cancel a comic subscription.

Refunds

Manta's refund page says all payments are final and are not eligible for a refund. That covers memberships and Gems.

How to pay less on Manta

• Subscribe on the web: Premium is $1 a month cheaper there, and member bundles carry more Gems.
• If you buy Gems every month anyway, Premium on the web costs less than a $9.99 bundle and includes the library.
• For library reading only, the twelve-month Standard plan at about $4.16 a month is the cheapest per month, but it starts only in the app and cannot be refunded.
• Non-members gain nothing from bundles above $9.99. Buy only what you will spend.
• Run the Free Pass every day on the series you follow slowly.

What needs an account to see

The Standard web price and the one-time Starter Pack are not published. The 18+ full versions need an account with an age of 18 or over, entered at sign-up; Manta says Once you submit your age, you will not be able to change it. Get the birth date right the first time.
