In short
- Iron Circus Comics sells every erotic graphic novel as a DRM-free PDF: Letters for Lucardo and Yes, Roya are $8.00 and $10.00, and Iris and Angel issue one is free.
- Filthy Figments ($12.99 a month) and Slipshine ($11.57 every 30 days after a $29.00 first month) are the two long-running members archives.
- GlobalComix allows nudity but not explicit sex, so it suits mature comics and not erotica.
- The European print tradition (Manara, Crepax) is sold in print; the digital side is thin.
What erotic comics means here
Erotic comics are comics where desire, sex and relationships are the subject, written as a story with a cast and a point of view. The label overlaps with porn comics but names a different shelf in the shop: the stress falls on romance, consent, queer and women's perspectives, and the graphic novel as a bound book. Where a porn comics site sells volume, an erotic comics publisher sells a title.
This list ranks places by how well they serve that reader: whether the work is original, whether you can keep it, and whether the platform says plainly what it allows. Prices and policies come from each service's own pages. We bought and subscribed to nothing, and library sizes are the vendors' own claims. For the term itself, erotic comics explained sets out how it differs from its neighbors, and the porn comics list ranks the sites for the explicit-first reader. The full set of lists is in the best-of index.

Iron Circus Comics is an independent US publisher, and the product descriptions on its erotic books begin ADULTS ONLY
. Its store lists 38 products in Erotica and 37 in NSFW, counting bundles and a poster. The Smut Peddler anthologies, which the store describes as consent-focused, queer-friendly erotica from many creators, run $15 to $18 as a PDF; Smut Peddler X is $18 as a PDF, $35 in softcover and $50 in hardcover.
The single-author books are the better introduction. Letters for Lucardo is a paranormal romance between Ed Fiedler, a 61-year-old palace scribe, and Lucardo, an eternally 33-year-old
aristocrat, at $8.00 a volume as a PDF and $15.00 in softcover, with three of a planned four volumes out. Yes, Roya is a 1963 California story about an artist, a cartoonist and his partner, at $10.00 as a PDF and $15.00 in softcover. Iris and Angel is a short comedy: issue one is a free PDF, issues two to four are $5.00 each, and the bundle is $12.50.
There is no subscription, no app and no reader. Files arrive by email and are yours to keep. The FAQ says no refunds and the refund page offers 30-day returns on physical items, so treat a PDF as final. The pages we checked show no age gate and no statement about character ages. The platform's own page is Iron Circus Comics reviewed.
Filthy Figments
Best members archive for queer and women-led erotica
- Price
- Free tier · $12.99/mo
- Type
- erotic comics subscription site
- Formats
- western comics
- Free reading
- Yes
Filthy Figments has published original erotic comics since June 1, 2010, and describes its catalogue as queer and women-centered. The site claims 200+ titles and over 15,000 pages from 50+ creators, with 50+ new pages guaranteed every month
. Genres in its filter include BDSM, fantasy, sci-fi, polyamory and humor, plus pairing tags.
Membership is $12.99 a month, or $99.95 a year on a sale price (regular $156.00), about $8.33 a month. A free sampler shows the house style first. Billing appears as CCBILL*StrawberryC
, and the site calls that discreet. You cancel yourself under My Account, Subscriptions, and access continues to the end of the paid term.
Two limits. The age check is a yes/no pop-up, and we found no statement that all characters are adults, so the site makes no promise of that kind. There is no app. Several of its creators also draw for the webcomic Oh Joy Sex Toy, which is listed on the NSFW webcomics list.
GlobalComix
Best for mature comics without explicit sex
- Price
- Free tier · $6.99/mo
- Type
- comics reading and self-publishing platform
- Formats
- western comics, manga, webtoons
- Free reading
- Yes
GlobalComix is where erotic comics stop. Its content policy turns away comics whose premise is pornographic or that show graphic sex, and the FAQ names hentai as unwelcome. Nudity is allowed when it is not part of a sex scene, which leaves room for mature romance and stories about desire told without the act on the page.
Gold costs $6.99 a month or $69.00 a year ($5.75 a month) and the vendor says it covers 100,000+ titles, among them publisher catalogues from Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, IDW and Kodansha. Dark Horse's FAQ lists GlobalComix among the stores for its digital editions after Dark Horse Digital closed. The iOS app is rated 17+, and Gold members can download unlocks for offline reading. See the adult comics list for the mature-rated platforms in full.
itch.io
Best open marketplace for independent erotic comics
- Price
- Free
- Type
- open indie marketplace with an NSFW comics section
- Formats
- western comics, doujinshi, 3D comics
- Free reading
- Yes
itch.io lets artists upload comics and set the price, free and pay-what-you-want included. Its NSFW comics section shows 1,630 comics, 218 of them free, with sale prices from $1 to $8.99, behind a date-of-birth gate. Files are DRM-free and stay in your library.
Quality varies more than it does at a curated publisher, and so do the rules: free adult pages and paid ones follow different content policies, because paid work must avoid the themes the card networks refuse. In July 2025 itch.io removed adult pages from browse and search, and paid ones were listed again without a dated announcement. The itch.io review covers the details.
Slipshine
Best long-running archive of erotic webcomics
- Price
- Free tier · $11.57/mo
- Type
- erotic webcomics publisher with a members site
- Formats
- western comics
- Free reading
- Yes
Slipshine has run since December 15, 2001, and says its members archive holds more than 23,512 pages across over 100 series, updated daily. The home page calls the output sex-positive, LGBTQ+ comics, and the artists are commissioned and paid by the publisher. The members site costs $29.00 for the first 30 days, then $11.57 every 30 days, with a non-renewing $29.00 option.
It takes cards only and cancels through CCBill or an email. Slipshine says every character in its comics is of legal age. Free comics on subdomains, such as The Rock Cocks, give you pages to judge first. Of the two members archives, Filthy Figments is cheaper per month and Slipshine states its age policy.
The European tradition, mostly in print
Erotic comics have a long line in France, Italy and Belgium that English readers know through a handful of names, and most of that catalogue is print. Fantagraphics published The Complete Crepax, the Guido Crepax series; volume 7, Erotic Stories Part I, is a 328-page hardback priced at $85.00 and was listed out of stock when we checked. Dark Horse prints Milo Manara: Manara Erotica Volume 1 is a 292-page paperback at $29.99 with an 18+ age range on the product page.
The digital side is thin. Dark Horse announced on February 24, 2025 that Dark Horse Digital was ending, and its FAQ now points to Amazon, iBooks, Google Play Books, Barnes & Noble, Kobo and GlobalComix, though the Manara product page does not say which editions exist digitally. NBM's store still has a Eurotica collection with no products in it. Tabou Éditions, founded in 2005, sells French-language erotic bande dessinée in print from its own shop. We found no current English publisher page for Druuna.
The odd one is Sunstone, Stjepan Šejić's BDSM romance, which began online and now comes from Image Comics: volume 1 of the new 6x9 edition is 128 pages at $9.99, and it ranks number 11 in Amazon's Erotica Graphic Novels best sellers. The creator-owned books near it are rare. Most of that shelf is anonymous self-published Kindle work labeled Adult Comic 21+, priced from EUR 1.78 to EUR 12.22 from an EU connection. The creator-run side of the genre is on the NSFW webcomics list.

What a reader pays
The two models suit different habits. Reading a lot of short comics is cheaper on a members archive: Filthy Figments' sale-priced year is about $8.33 a month and Slipshine settles at $11.57 every 30 days. Reading a few books is cheaper bought outright. At $8.00 to $10.00 a PDF from Iron Circus, a year of Filthy Figments at $99.95 is the price of ten or twelve volumes, and the books never expire.
Nothing on the list has an iPhone app for explicit reading, and all of it works in a mobile browser. GlobalComix, the only one with an app, is also the only one that refuses explicit sex. Reading adult comics on mobile covers readers for the files you download.
FAQ
Where can I buy erotic graphic novels digitally?
Iron Circus Comics sells its erotic graphic novels as DRM-free PDFs, from $8.00 a volume, delivered by email. Independent artists sell erotic comics on itch.io, and the Smut Peddler anthologies are $15 to $18 as PDFs.
What is the difference between erotic comics and porn comics?
The subject can overlap; the shelf differs. Erotic comics are sold as stories, usually as graphic novels or from curated archives, while porn comics sites sell volume. Porn comics vs hentai manga covers the neighboring split.
Are there erotic comics for women or queer readers?
Yes. Filthy Figments centers queer and women-led work, Slipshine calls its output LGBTQ+ friendly, and the Iron Circus Smut Peddler anthologies are described as queer-friendly and consent-focused.
Is Manara available digitally in English?
Dark Horse prints Manara Erotica Volume 1 for $29.99. Dark Horse Digital closed in 2025, and the product page does not say which digital editions exist, so check the retailers Dark Horse names.
Is GlobalComix a good place for erotic comics?
For mature comics, yes; for erotica, no. It refuses explicit sex and allows nudity only outside sex scenes. Its Gold plan is $6.99 a month.
Can I read erotic comics free?
In part. Iris and Angel issue one is a free PDF, Filthy Figments and Slipshine have free samplers, and itch.io listed 218 free NSFW comics. The members archives and most books are paid.
