What Sunstone is about
Image Comics sells Sunstone with one line on the cover copy: A slow-burn lesbian romance with a kinky twist!
The two leads are Lisa and Ally, and the story is about their BDSM relationship. Image's blurb introduces Ally as "implacably ordinary", with a successful job and a nice house, apart from her "preference for bedroom domination". Both women are working adults in the publisher's own framing.
Šejić is credited as both writer and artist on the Image listing. The book's genre sits where three shelves meet: romance, BDSM and erotica.
How explicit Sunstone is
Image gives the series an M age rating. It is erotica in the publisher's sense, sold through regular bookstores, and Amazon files it under Erotica Graphic Novels. "Sunstone Volume 1 (New Edition)" in paperback is number 11 on Amazon's best-seller chart for that category, seen from an EU connection. Of the top 12 that day it was the only established creator-owned book; most of the rest were anonymous self-published titles.
Sunstone New Edition volumes and prices
Image is reissuing Sunstone in 2026 in a smaller 6x9 trade paperback format, one volume roughly every two months. Volume 1 of the New Edition came out on February 11, 2026: 128 pages, ISBN 9781534333987, cover price $9.99, age rating M. The listing says it collects the first volume

Where to buy the books
The trade paperbacks are sold through Image and the usual bookstores, and Amazon carries the New Edition in paperback. Image's series page is the place to confirm which volume is out before ordering, since the New Edition is still being released through December 2026. We have not checked digital editions or their prices on a store page, so this page does not list any.
Is Sunstone free to read online?
It started that way. Image's copy says the book was originally posted online as a webcomic, and Šejić first published it on DeviantArt. Whether that original run is still free there is unconfirmed: we could not check it. Until it is, the Image paperbacks and hardcovers are the verified, licensed way to read Sunstone, and buying them is what pays the creator.
