In short
- Patreon pays out any time once funds clear, or automatically on the 5th, by US direct deposit, Payoneer, or PayPal ($10 minimum).
- SubscribeStar pays only on request, by bank transfer, once the balance reaches $150 (some US creators $30), at most every 10 business days.
- pixivFANBOX pays to a Japanese bank or PayPal; Fantia pays abroad only to permanent overseas residents with 50,000 JPY in sales; Skeb pays only to a Japanese bank or Kyash.
- Ci-en sends PayPal in yen to creators who cannot open a Japanese account, from 5,000 JPY per sales type.
Where you live decides more than the fee does. A creator in Europe or the Americas can draw for a Japanese audience on FANBOX and collect through PayPal, but cannot collect Skeb commissions at all without a Japanese account. The fee side of the same platforms is on our creator fees page; the other creator guides go platform by platform.

Japanese platforms and artists outside Japan
The Japanese fan-club platforms are where many hentai and doujin artists sell, and their payout rules are the first thing a non-Japanese artist runs into.
pixivFANBOX offers two methods: The available payout methods are bank transfer and PayPal.
The bank must be Japanese. FANBOX refuses money-transfer services (Payoneer, WorldFirst, Kyash, Onebank
) and crypto exchanges, lists Wise as Currently unavailable
, and tells creators If you do not have a Japanese bank account, please use PayPal
. PayPal transfers carry no fee; bank transfers cost 200 JPY under 30,000 JPY and 300 JPY from 30,000 JPY. pixiv Requests uses the same pair of methods with the same refusals.
Fantia is the strictest. Overseas payouts, to a bank account or PayPal, go only to 恒久的な海外在住者様
(permanent overseas residents) and only once sales reach 50,000 JPY, with the remittance fee deducted. Every creator passes an eKYC photo-ID check first, overseas residents with an equivalent government photo ID, and the payout account must be in the ID holder's name. Domestic transfers cost 330 JPY per claim and arrive under the name "カ)トラノアナ".
Ci-en is friendlier to foreign creators than Fantia. Creators who cannot open a Japanese account are paid by PayPal in yen and bear the fees, while online money-transfer services are refused. The other option is viviON points credited to the creator's DLsite account by the end of the following month, with no minimum. Bank transfers need 5,000 JPY in each sales type (plans, crowdfunding, one-off articles) or the balance rolls over.
Skeb pays Japanese bank accounts or Kyash
and nothing else. About 35% of its clients are overseas users, by its own count, but the artist side is closed to anyone without a Japanese account. Its terms also bar nationals of, or traders with, countries under Japanese sanctions.

Patreon payouts
Patreon lets creators pay out your balance whenever you'd like, wait for the automatic-5th-of-the-month payout (if enabled), or keep funds in your balance
. Commerce sales on the web and Android stay pending for up to 7 days; anything bought through iOS in-app purchase stays pending for up to 75 days. The methods and their fees:
- US direct deposit through Stripe, $0.25 per payout, for US creators (US territories other than Puerto Rico are not supported)
- Payoneer bank transfer for non-US creators, $0.25 plus 1.55% conversion to local currency, or $0.50 to a USD account
- PayPal at 1%, minimum $0.25 and capped at $20, with a $10 minimum payout
- Payoneer wallet at $1.00 per payout, with a $25 minimum
Creators with a euro or pound balance pay EUR 0.50 or GBP 0.50 by bank, 0.75 by Payoneer and 1.00 by PayPal. Patreon publishes a table of eligible countries for each method on the same fees page. Creators in regions whose law prohibits adult works will not be allowed to publish Adult/18+ works
, which ends the question before payout. More on Patreon for adult comic artists.
SubscribeStar payouts
SubscribeStar's payouts are manual and come with conditions. Payouts are not processed automatically.
The October 29, 2026 Payouts Policy makes a profile eligible at USD 150 in pledges/earnings collected on balance
, with a USD 30 threshold for some creators in the United States, and the FAQ adds five active subscribers and a $50 minimum request. Requests are allowed once 10 business days have passed since the last one, and requests under $5,000 are paid within 10 business days of approval.
Methods are bank transfers: Bank transfers (Wire, ACH), almost any country international transfers
, plus any account that takes ACH, wire or SWIFT. The policy asks for two supported methods for the creator's country, a primary and a backup. The payout fee depends on the method and is shown after the request. SubscribeStar may also keep a rolling reserve of 10% of collected funds, at least USD 35, for 30 business days, and profiles with fewer than five active subscribers face a risk period of up to 90 days.

itch.io and the commission sites
itch.io has two modes. Direct payments go straight into the creator's own PayPal or Stripe account. In collected mode itch.io holds the money and pays it out via PayPal or Payoneer, from a $5.00 balance, after a review: We require a minimum of 7 days after you create a payout and typically complete reviews within 10 to 14 days.
itch.io said in July 2025 that Stripe payments for 18+ content were suspended for the foreseeable future
, and we found no later notice lifting that.
Skeb pays faster than anything else here. A creator chooses Express, a withdrawal after each delivery, or Monthly; with zero-time transfer or Kyash the money arrives at once, otherwise within 24 hours. pixiv Requests, by contrast, pays profits from a month's requests within 5 business days from the 20th of the following month.
When unpaid earnings expire
| Platform | Earnings lapse after |
|---|---|
| pixivFANBOX | Six months without payout |
| Fantia | 360 days after tallying, if unclaimed |
| Ci-en | 360 days without new sales |
| Skeb | One year after the sale accrues |
| pixiv Requests | Small balances are sent automatically after about 180 days |
A part-time artist with a few supporters can fall under a minimum for months. FANBOX skips the Auto-Payout in any month under 5,000 JPY, so an artist below that line has to request an Early Payout before six months pass.
Tax forms and ID before the first payout
Patreon requires non-US creators to submit a W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E in order to pay out their funds
, and US creators may receive Form 1099-K. SubscribeStar asks for W-9, W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E plus DAC7-type reporting before any payout. Fantia and Ci-en say they deduct no withholding tax. Fantia's ID check comes before selling, Patreon's adult ID check before publishing, and SubscribeStar's KYC before either.
Currencies
FANBOX, Fantia, Ci-en, Skeb and pixiv Requests keep balances in yen; Ci-en's PayPal payout is in yen too, so a foreign creator's PayPal account does the conversion. Patreon pays in dollars, euros or pounds, with 1.55% conversion on Payoneer bank transfers to local currency. Gumroad pays local-currency bank deposits in many countries and falls back to PayPal in dollars with a 2% fee.
Webcomic hosts and stores without explicit work
These pay artists whose comics stop short of explicit sex. WEBTOON Canvas cut its PayPal minimum from $100 to $25 in its notice of January 5, 2026; creators paid through Patreon still need $100, and ad and Super Like balances are paid separately. Tapas cashes out by PayPal from $25 and closes on 2027-03-31. GlobalComix pays by PayPal or, for US creators, Stripe from $30 after a 14-day pending period. Ko-fi sends every payment straight to the creator's PayPal or Stripe account with no minimum. Gumroad holds a $100 minimum, pays weekly by default after a 7-day hold, and charges 3% for US instant payouts.
