FAKKU is the largest licensed English hentai publisher: books and doujinshi to buy and download, or the whole catalogue online with the FAKKU Unlimited subscription. Its subscription page promises no black bars or mosaics, though the tag index also lists Mosaics and Whiteout titles, so check the tag before you read. Book editions come as PDF or zip at up to 3200 px tall.

The recurring Unlimited price is shown only after sign-in. The prepaid cards on its official merch store are $14.95 for 30 days, $44.85 for 90 and $179 for 365, which is about $14.92 a month on the yearly card. One free title is picked each week. Digital titles can be refunded within 3 days if not downloaded, subscription payments are not refunded, and there is no PayPal, American Express or iPhone app.

pixiv is where most Japanese hentai and doujin artists post R-18 illustrations and manga for free, so it is the nearest thing to free browsing that the artist chose. Everything is mosaic-censored by rule, with a minimum of 4x4 pixels or 1/100 of the long side. R-18 needs an account with a birthdate showing 18+ and can be switched on only from the website, not the app. Accounts set to the US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia or New Zealand see extra limits.

Reading costs nothing. pixiv Premium adds search and ad removal at $4.15 a month on the web (seen from an EU address) and does not unlock any work. Most posts are in Japanese.

Irodori Comics is a small US publisher that licenses doujinshi straight from the artists and sells uncensored English editions as DRM-free PDFs, 3200 px tall. Its erotic line holds over 300 titles by over 100 artists, and about 14 titles are free to read online. Buying the same title gets the file, sometimes for $0.10. There is no subscription, and each title is a separate purchase.

Limits are real. Users in Japan cannot buy uncensored content, access is blocked from China, South Korea and New Zealand, there is no PayPal, and refunds exist only for a duplicate purchase within 24 hours. Every product page carries a character age disclaimer.

itch.io has western comics, doujinshi and 3D work from artists who upload their own files. The NSFW browse page shows 218 free comics, plus filters for paid titles under $5 and $15. Downloads are DRM-free and browsing needs only a date-of-birth gate.

Adult sales were disrupted in July 2025, when itch.io removed adult pages from browse and search, suspended Stripe for 18+ pages and re-indexed free adult pages on July 31. Paid adult pages have not been announced as re-indexed. Quality varies page by page.

Fantia, Toranoana's fan club platform, lets circles sell downloads, goods and monthly plans, and some creators open free plans or posts to anyone logged in with adult display on. Plans are set by each creator between 100 and 100,000 JPY. The interface has an English switch, but posts are mostly Japanese.

Visa and Mastercard have been suspended since May 21, 2024, so cards are limited to JCB and American Express, and there is no app. Mosaics are mandatory. Paid posts and downloads cannot be refunded as a rule.

MangaPlaza is not a doujinshi shop. It sells licensed adult romance and BL manga to US readers, with an Adult Romance shelf of 1,564 titles behind an 18+ toggle, and the first chapter of most titles is free. It does not say how censored its Mature titles are.

Points cost one cent each and Premium is $6.99 a month with a one-time 7-day trial, cancelled only on the website. There is no app and no download, the terms limit use to the United States, and unlocked chapters are not refunded.
