Free hentai manga sites you can read legally

pixiv's help center says browsing and posting are free, and Premium only adds convenience: popularity search, ad removal and creator tools. Premium costs $4.15 a month on the web (card or PayPal), with a one-month free trial for first-time subscribers that auto-renews and does not apply in the app. You never need it to read.

R-18 is where the work is, and R-18 has steps. You need an account, a date of birth set on it, and the age-restricted display switched on; people under 18 cannot change the setting, and it can be changed on the website only, not in the iOS or Android app. The logged-out R-18 ranking returns an HTTP 403 error. Since April 2024 pixiv has also limited content for accounts set to the US and UK, and since November 10, 2025 the same limits cover Australia, Canada, the EU and New Zealand; the region follows the account's location setting, and some regions cannot send R-18 requests at all. All of it is mosaic-censored, with squares of at least 4x4 pixels,.

Irodori Comics licenses doujinshi directly from the artists and translates them into English. The store's Free Doujin shelf holds 14 titles, each tagged free to read. They are artist-approved full books, and the English editions are uncensored.

The same title can be bought as a DRM-free PDF 3,200 pixels tall, sometimes for $0.10, and ordinary prices start at $5.25 on the home page. Buying needs an account; the free reading is the online reader. Irodori shuts out China, South Korea and New Zealand and blocks Japanese visitors from uncensored content. There is no iPhone app; you read in a browser or download the file.

FAKKU, the largest licensed English hentai publisher, shows a Free Hentai Manga of the Week on its home page with a countdown, and tags other titles Free (the 15-page Room Mates was one). Titles are tagged Uncensored, Mosaics or Whiteout, so check the tag before you read. The free pick is a way to see how the translations read.

Past that, FAKKU is paid: books from $6.48 on sale to $24.25 on the home page, or Unlimited, which costs $14.95 for a prepaid 30-day card. FAKKU lists no trial. Sign-up has an 18+ checkbox, and no FAKKU app showed up in a US App Store search, so reading happens in a browser. In December 2025 FAKKU's payment processor ended its account, and FAKKU added bank transfers; check the payment processor note before you put money in.

Fantia lets creators run both free and paid plans, and free-plan or free posts can be read without paying. What is free depends on the creator: some post a teaser, others a full chapter. R-18 posts need a login with the adult display switched on in the account settings, and since March 19, 2026 the R-18 zones also show a self-declaration step that readers pass by answering a confirmation screen. Creators go through photo-ID checks.

The interface switches to English, but the posts are mostly Japanese. Mosaics or thick black or white bars are mandatory over genitals, visible even at thumbnail size. Fantia has no app, and its Tora Coin credit (1 coin = 1 yen) pays for plans. Search and rankings need a login.

Ci-en is DLsite's fan-support site, where doujin circles post progress diaries and perks for monthly backers. Fans can follow creators on free plans, and each creator decides which articles to open. The article ranking was visible after the age click-through without a login, though paid content needs an account.

The age screen is a yes-or-no question in Japanese ("Are you 18 or over?") on the ci-en.dlsite.com side, and the language switcher offers English, with some strings left in Japanese. Drawn and written adult work is allowed with an R-18 rating and mosaics or fills; live-action sexual content is banned. Our files do not say whether Ci-en has an app. Supporters cancel a paid plan from the Supporter info page, but not between 21:00 on the last day of the month and midnight.

pixivFANBOX is where Japanese illustrators and manga artists put work for paying fans, and it has no free plan at all: its help page says creators cannot make one. What they can do is set a post's privacy to All users, and following a creator is free. So the free part is whatever each artist chooses to leave public.

Seeing R-18 posts takes a pixiv account and the browsing setting (Account settings, Browsing settings, See R-18 content); the help page does not describe an ID check. Mosaic or solid-color censoring is required at the same 4 px or 1/100 of the long side as on pixiv. FANBOX had no official iOS app in the US or Japanese App Store searches, and plans cost from 100 to 10,000 yen a month per creator. The interface exists in English.
