In short
- Western porn comics come from studio and publisher sites: Slipshine, Filthy Figments, Iron Circus, Kirtu, and Affect3D for 3D work.
- Indie artists sell their own adult comics on itch.io (1,630 NSFW comics in browse) and post free work on Newgrounds and DeviantArt.
- The adult shelf is usually off by default. You switch it on with a birthdate, a toggle or a login.
- Genre, pairing, tag and price filters narrow it down; free samplers let you try a site before paying.
"Adult comics" covers three different markets that rarely share a storefront: western erotic comics, Japanese hentai manga and Korean adult webtoons. Pick the market first, because the search box on a webtoon site will never surface a western erotic graphic novel. What follows is the western and indie side. The manga side is in how to find hentai manga and the webtoon side in finding adult webtoons; the other guides cover reading, paying and cancelling.
Where each kind of adult comic is published
| What you want | Where it is published | How you pay |
|---|---|---|
| Original erotic webcomics, many artists | Slipshine, Filthy Figments | Membership |
| Erotic graphic novels and anthologies | Iron Circus (Smut Peddler) | Per book, print or DRM-free PDF |
| Indian adult comics in English or Hindi | Kirtu (Savita Bhabhi) | Yearly plan or monthly credits |
| 3D porn comics | Affect3D | Per title, download |
| Indie comics straight from the artist | itch.io | Per title, often pay what you want |
| Free work posted by artists | Newgrounds, DeviantArt, pixiv | Free; artists link their paid pages |
The studio sites carry their own catalogs. Slipshine says its archive runs past 23,000 pages and 100 series, with new pages every day. Filthy Figments claims 200+ titles from 50+ creators and promises 50+ new pages a month. Both figures are the sites' own. Iron Circus is smaller (38 products in its Erotica collection) but sells every erotic book as a DRM-free PDF you keep.

Switch on the adult shelf first
Many sites show a cleaned-up version of themselves until you prove, or at least claim, that you are an adult. If a search returns nothing explicit, this is usually why.
- itch.io puts its NSFW comics behind a date-of-birth gate with Month, Day and Year selectors.
- Filthy Figments asks
Are you at least 18 years old?
in a pop-up; Slipshine's members site takes a credit card as its age check. - DeviantArt has a "Display Mature Content" toggle in the site header.
- pixiv shows R-18 work only to accounts with a date of birth set, and the R-18 setting can be changed on the website, not in the app.
- Toomics runs a Family Safe mode that is on by default; BookWalker hides mature titles until you sign in and change a per-device setting.
Newgrounds sorts everything by its own E, T, M and A ratings, and adult work is rated A. The rating works as the filter.
Use the filters each site gives you
Filthy Figments has the most useful filter of the studio sites: themes such as BDSM, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Superhero, Mythology and Period Piece, plus pairing tags (F x F, M x M, trans pairings and more) and a Free Comics filter. Affect3D's category menu works the same way for 3D work, with Futanari, Fantasy, Sci-fi, Superhero, Monster, BDSM, Horror and Tentacles among its categories. Iron Circus keeps it simple with three collections: Erotica, NSFW and Smut Peddler.
On itch.io the NSFW comics page filters by price (Free, On Sale, Paid, $5 or less, $15 or less), and the Adult tag page lists related tags such as Erotic, Gay, Furry, Yaoi, Bara and Doujinshi. On-sale NSFW comics there run from $1 to $8.99. Tagging is up to each creator, so quality and accuracy vary page by page.
Kirtu has no genre menu at all. Its series are the categories (Savita Bhabhi, Velamma, XXX Apartments and others), and the All Kirtu Series page says the studio currently works only on Savita Bhabhi episodes.
Follow the artists you like
A lot of adult comic work never reaches a store. Artists post free pages on Newgrounds, DeviantArt or pixiv and put the full comic behind a Patreon or SubscribeStar membership. The communities are where you find them; the membership is where you pay them. Comics on Newgrounds and DeviantArt sit in personal galleries with no comics section, so following an artist you like is faster than searching. Patreon keeps explicit work behind the paywall and requires public previews to show no nudity, so an artist's free page often looks tame. Where the money goes when you subscribe is covered in supporting adult comic creators.
Some independent NSFW webcomics are published by their creators on their own sites, free to read. Our NSFW webcomics section has the ones we checked.

Try the free shelves before paying
Every studio site above lets you look before you buy. Slipshine has a public sampler plus a few full comics free on its subdomains, such as The Rock Cocks. Filthy Figments has a free comics sampler. Iron Circus gives away Iris and Angel: One as a $0.00 PDF. Kirtu unlocks one free episode with a free account, and Affect3D has a Free 3D Products category. On itch.io, 218 comics tagged NSFW are free. The full list of legal free options is on free porn comics sites.
What we leave out
The top search results for "porn comics" are free aggregator sites that repost studios' paid catalogs without a licence. We do not list or link them: the artists are not paid, and some of those catalogs carry material we will not point anyone to. If you are leaving one, 8muses alternatives lists licensed replacements, and the ranked picks are on the best porn comics sites. For 3D work specifically, see 3D porn comics.
FAQ
Where can I read porn comics legally?
On the sites that publish or sell them: Slipshine and Filthy Figments by membership, Iron Circus and Affect3D per book, Kirtu by plan or credits, and itch.io straight from the artist. All of them have a free sample or free titles.
Why can't I find adult comics when I search a comic site?
The adult shelf is probably switched off. Toomics' Family Safe mode is on by default, pixiv needs a date of birth on the account, itch.io asks for a birthdate, and BookWalker hides mature titles until you change a setting while signed in.
Where do indie artists sell adult comics?
itch.io is the main open store: each creator sets the price, many use pay what you want, and files download DRM-free. Many artists also run Patreon or SubscribeStar memberships and post free previews on Newgrounds, DeviantArt or pixiv.
Are there free adult comics that are legal?
Yes. Slipshine and Filthy Figments have samplers, Iron Circus has one free erotic PDF, Kirtu gives one free episode with an account, and itch.io has 218 free NSFW comics.
