indecent, pornographic

- Free Fast Passes from missions unlock a chapter for good, and early chapters are free on the web.
What Webnovel comics is
Webnovel is the English platform of Yuewen, run by Cloudary Holdings Limited, and it is a novel platform first. The terms describe it as providing online reading services, literature content generation services, and comics content distribution services
. The comics live in their own section at webnovel.com/stories/comic, with a "Genre of Comics" menu; the old /comic address now returns an error. The app has been on the US App Store since May 2017, novels and comics together.
The comics are licensed and say so on the page. Solo Leveling carries the line THIS IS AN OFFICIAL LICENSED TRANSLATION FROM D&C MEDIA
, house titles read This is an authorized work from Webnovel Comics protected by copyright law
, and every comic shows a "Publisher:" line. Most of the catalog is Chinese manhua in vertical scroll; Webnovel gives no comic count. It is listed with the other mainstream services in our platforms section.
Who it suits
Readers of Chinese romance-fantasy, wuxia and action manhua, especially ones who already read novels on Webnovel and want both on one account. The genre menu covers Romance, Action, LGBT+, Fantasy, Urban, Harem, Transmigration, Magic, Eastern, Wuxia, Cooking and more, and synopses state update days, typically one or two chapters a week (Beauty and the Beasts updates Tuesday and Friday).
It does not suit anyone looking for adult webtoons. And comic artists will find no way in: the "Be an Author" route leads to Inkstone, which is for novel writers.
Does Webnovel have adult comics?
No. The terms list among prohibited content anything a reasonable person could deem to be objectionable, profane, indecent, pornographic
. The comics section on the web and in the app is mainstream licensed manhua and manhwa, with no adult shelf and no age prompt on the comics pages. The terms set the minimum age at 13.
The App Store rating can mislead. The US listing shows 16+, with advisories that include "Infrequent/Mild Sexual Content and Nudity" and "Unrestricted Web Access". That rating covers the whole app, novels included; it does not mean the comics are explicit. Google Play rates the app 13+.
Romance and Harem tabs cover the steamy end of mainstream manhua, and that is as far as it goes. For licensed explicit work in the same vertical format, start with erotic webtoons.
What is free on Webnovel comics
Webnovel has several free routes, explained in its Help Center:
- Early chapters of comics are free on the website, without signing in.
- Fast Passes, earned from missions:
Fast Pass is an item that can unlock chapter. The chapter will remain unlocked forever
. An unused Fast Passwill expire after 7 days
, and it works only onnovel and comic chapters that aren't Privilege chapters
. - Daily check-in rewards, with a bonus for watching an ad.
- Borrowing and discount vouchers.
A Fast Pass is the most useful of these, since what it unlocks stays unlocked. Spend them within the week. Other free comic options are on free adult comics sites.
Webnovel Coins and what a chapter costs
Coins are the official digital currency for Webnovel.com
, used with the Unlock Chapter button. The US App Store lists these packs and memberships:
- monthElite Membership$4.99Help Center: monthly membership runs 31 days; benefits listed in the app
- monthElite Membership-Basic$2.49period assumed monthly from the Help Center; not stated on the store list
- once50 Coins$0.9950 Coins
- once150 Coins$2.99150 Coins
- once250 Coins$4.99250 Coins
- once400 Coins$7.99400 Coins
- once500 Coins$9.99500 Coins
- once1000 Coins$19.991000 Coins
- once2500 Coins$49.992500 Coins
- once5000 Coins$99.995000 Coins
Source: apps.apple.com. Prices change with region, promotions and the store you buy through.
From 50 Coins for $0.99 to 5,000 for $99.99, every pack is about 2 cents a Coin. Bonus Coins come from top-up events and membership, not from buying a bigger pack, and they expire (a purchase bonus lasts 365 days). How many Coins a comic chapter costs is shown only on the unlock page, so Webnovel's public pages give no dollar price per chapter. At 2 cents a Coin, the sum is quick once you see the number.
Two extras cost Coins on top. Privilege sells advance chapters ahead of the free schedule; it is tiered and expires at the end of each calendar month
(UTC+8). Batch Unlock can discount a run of chapters, but Webnovel says it is still in beta, available to limited users
. Refunds: All fees are in U.S. dollars and are non-refundable unless required by applicable laws.
The mechanics behind this kind of pricing are on pay per chapter.
Elite Membership
The US App Store lists "Elite Membership" at $4.99 and "Elite Membership-Basic" at $2.49. The Help Center says Monthly membership is effective for 31 days
and that membership brings Coin Bonuses (a "Membership Daily Bonus") and profile frames; the full list of benefits is only in the app. Webnovel does not publish what Elite does for comic readers specifically.
Membership renews through the app store: Membership expenses will be deducted by your corresponding app store automatically.
To stop it, Go to Store, click Subscriptions, select Webnovel to cancel the subscription.
Webnovel itself cannot cancel it. Details for each store are in how to cancel a comic subscription.
Webnovel on iPhone, Android and the web
- iPhoneYesWebNovel - Read Novels & Manga, updated 2026-10-23.
- AndroidYesGoogle Play, 10M+ downloads, Editors' Choice, updated Oct 27, 2026.
- BrowserYesComics readable at webnovel.com.
The app holds novels and comics together; Google Play lists more than 10 million downloads, an Editors' Choice badge and "Contains ads". Comics also read in the browser at webnovel.com, chapter by chapter in vertical scroll, with "ADD TO LIBRARY" on each comic page. Webnovel does not say whether comics can be downloaded for offline reading.
Privacy and billing
Google Play's Data safety label is broad on sharing. It lists location, purchase history, device IDs, personal info such as name and email, app activity, browsing history and messages as shared with other companies, mostly for analytics and advertising, while its collection section says "No data collected". Memberships bill through Apple or Google. A reader who wants a smaller footprint can read comics in the browser without an account, up to the paywall.
Can comic artists publish on Webnovel?
Not that we could find. "Be an Author" and "Create" lead to Inkstone (Become the Next Top Writer with Inkstone
), which is for novel writers, and no submission route for comics turned up. Readers can still tip with Coins: You can also Gift the content creator
. Comic artists can compare real options at how comic platforms pay creators.

- Coins per chapter visible only on the unlock page.
- Comics are a side section of a novel platform, with no program for comic artists.
- Wide data sharing for analytics and ads per Google Play.
Alternatives to Webnovel comics
If the appeal is novels and comics in one place, two licensed stores do both and keep 18+ comic editions on the web. Tappytoon sells Korean manhwa and English web novels, with [Steamy] and [Uncut] editions in mature mode on its website. Manta has COMIC, NOVEL and MANGA tabs, a 300+ series membership library from $4.99 a month, and "[Full ver.]" editions in the browser. For a mainstream mix of manhua, manga and webtoons in one app, INKR has an ad-supported free tier and a Mature shelf behind an age confirmation. Readers who want explicit Korean adult webtoons on a flat fee can look at TOPTOON Plus, which replaced coins with a membership. The broader field is on adult webtoon sites.

Final verdict
Verdict
Webnovel comics is a sensible add-on for people already reading novels there: licensed manhua with the licence printed on the page, Fast Passes that unlock for good, and Coins at a flat 2 cents. As a comics platform it is thin on information, with chapter prices behind the unlock button and membership perks in the app only, and it has no adult content at all.
