- The source is press coverage (The Next Web, Publishers Weekly); we did not find GlobalComix's own release.

What happened
The Next Web reported on March 18, 2026 that GlobalComix had raised $13 million, acquired INKR and appointed Henrik Rydberg as chief executive. Publishers Weekly covered the same round under the headline that GlobalComix wants to create "the Figma for comics". INKR is run by INKR Global Pte. Ltd. in Singapore and mixes manga, manhua, webtoons and indie studios in one app.

How the two services differ
GlobalComix is a reading and self-publishing platform with a Gold subscription. When a creator sets pages as paid, readers need Gold to see them, and subscription revenue is split among the creators each reader reads in a month by share of pages (more on that model in how comic platforms pay creators). Its rules exclude explicit work: the FAQ says explicitly sexual stories (such as Hentai) ... are not accepted
.
INKR sells coins instead: 32 coins for $1.99 on iOS, about 6.2 cents a coin at every pack size. Ink earned from tasks rents chapters, and an ad-supported free tier covers free titles. The two models are weighed against each other on subscription vs pay per chapter. INKR also has a Mature section that asks for an 18+ click and a sign-in; what that section contains is not described on public pages, and INKR makes no statement on uncensored editions.
What it means for readers
For now, very little. Both sites answer normally, INKR's apps were last updated in July and August 2026, and neither research file records a change to coins, Gold or content rules since the deal. The open question is whether INKR's Mature shelf survives inside a company whose own platform bans explicitly sexual comics. We will update this page if either service announces a change.
Readers who want adult manga apps with explicit catalogs should look at adult manga apps and adult webtoon apps; how coin pricing works is explained under webtoon coins. More stories are on the news page.
