In short
- FAKKU sells books and doujinshi singly and runs FAKKU Unlimited for magazines and back catalog; its prepaid 30-day Unlimited card costs $14.95. Irodori sells per title only, from about $5.25 to $39.25.
- Both sell English editions without mosaics as standard. FAKKU tags the exceptions (Mosaics, Whiteout); Irodori keeps a right to edit in its terms.
- Irodori files are DRM-free PDFs at 3200 px. FAKKU book editions download as PDF or zip; it does not say whether Unlimited chapters download.
- Refunds are tight on both: FAKKU within 3 days if not downloaded, Irodori only for duplicates within 24 hours.
FAKKU and Irodori Comics are the two English hentai publishers readers name when they want licensed work that pays the artist. They overlap less than the search suggests. FAKKU is a large store and subscription with magazines, volumes, doujinshi and games. Irodori is a small doujinshi publisher that sells each book as a file to keep. More pairings are on our comparisons page.

Catalog and formats
FAKKU, LLC calls itself "the largest English hentai manga publisher in the world" (its own claim). The top menu splits into Hentai Manga, Doujin, Games, Manga and Unlimited. Unlimited claims "over 10,000 hentai chapters" and carries Japanese magazines including Comic Kairakuten, Comic Kairakuten BEAST, Comic X-Eros and Comic Bavel, plus some work by Western artists. The tag index runs to about 220 tags, from Vanilla and Yuri to Monster Girl and Full Color. New releases arrive daily.
Irodori Comics (IRODORI, Inc., Portland, Oregon) publishes Japanese doujinshi only: "over 300 titles by our growing roster of over 100 doujinshi artists" on its main erotic line. Other labels cover all-ages work (Irodori Aqua), BL, yuri and LGBTQ work (Irodori Sakura) and French, Spanish and Chinese editions. Its tag list has about 100 tags. If you want magazine chapters or collected volumes, Irodori does not sell them. If you read doujinshi in French or Spanish, Irodori is the one with those editions.
Uncensored editions and labels
Both sell uncensored English editions as their headline. FAKKU's subscription page promises thousands of completely uncensored English hentai comics. No black bars and no mosaics.
Not every title meets that: the tag index also carries Mosaics ("Artwork is consistently censored through pixelization") and Whiteout tags. So FAKKU tells you per title.
Irodori describes its main line as uncensored English localizations of impeccable quality
. Its terms reserve the right to alter a release by "obfuscation, interpretation, localization, and/or omission" where details "may be subject to morally objectionable and/or legal contest", so do not assume every panel is untouched. Why Japanese originals carry mosaics in the first place is covered in our mosaic censorship entry.
On character age, Irodori's product pages carry the clearest statement: All characters depicted herein are at least 18 years of age despite creative liberties on the part of the author that may suggest otherwise.
FAKKU's compliance notice says all persons in its visual depictions were at least 18.

Free reading
FAKKU gives one "Free Hentai Manga of the Week", with a countdown, plus titles under a Free tag. Irodori lists about 14 free-to-read doujinshi, approved by the artists, and some of them sell the DRM-free file for $0.10. Irodori also runs "99¢ Monthly Deals" on selected titles.
Prices: subscription or per title
FAKKU shows its recurring Unlimited price only after sign-in. What is public is the prepaid card price on FAKKU's official merch store:
| FAKKU Unlimited card | Price | Per 30 days |
|---|---|---|
| 30 days | $14.95 | $14.95 |
| 90 days | $44.85 | $14.95 |
| 365 days | $179.00 | about $14.71 |
Longer cards save almost nothing: the year card works out about 24 cents cheaper per 30 days. FAKKU also sells books and doujinshi to keep; home-page prices on the day ran from $6.48 on sale to $24.25, and a 63-page doujin cost $8.50, about 13.5 cents a page.
Irodori has no subscription and no coins. Home-page prices ran from $5.25 for a single doujinshi to $39.25 for a compilation, with monthly deals at $0.99. $14.95 buys one 30-day FAKKU card, or two of Irodori's cheapest doujinshi at $5.25 to keep.
The choice is the usual one. A reader who gets through more than a couple of books a month gets more from Unlimited; one who wants a small library to keep spends less at Irodori. Details on FAKKU's plans are on FAKKU subscription prices.
Downloads and offline reading
Irodori: All our digital doujinshi works are DRM-free and can be downloaded for you to keep.
Files are PDFs at 3200 pixels tall, from the product page or My Account. Every purchase can also be read online.
FAKKU book digital editions download as PDFs or zip archives of images at 2600 or 3200 pixels tall. FAKKU's help page does not mention DRM either way, and it does not say whether Unlimited chapters can be saved, so plan on reading Unlimited online. Our page on DRM-free hentai downloads lists the other stores that sell files.
Apps and access
Neither has an iPhone app; both are read in the browser, and FAKKU ships a web app manifest. FAKKU's subscription page mentions an Android app, but we found no download link on the site. Irodori blocks some countries: Japan cannot view or buy uncensored content, and individuals from China, South Korea, and New Zealand may not access the Website
. FAKKU's terms only ask you to confirm that viewing explicit content is legal where you are.
Age check
Both rely on a self-declaration. FAKKU's sign-up form asks you to affirm you are at least 18 or the age of majority; Irodori's terms and an 18+ notice on every page do the same. Both require an account to buy.
Refunds, payment and privacy
FAKKU refunds digital titles within 3 days if they have not been downloaded; Unlimited payments and sale items are final. Irodori refunds only a duplicate purchase, within 24 hours and before download, and a chargeback ends the account. Cancelling Unlimited is done only from FAKKU's Subscription Settings page, with access running to the end of the period.
Payment has been unsettled at FAKKU. Its payment processor of 11 years terminated the account in December 2025, and FAKKU added direct bank transfers; our report on FAKKU's processor has the timeline. Irodori takes no PayPal and advises against prepaid gift cards. Neither publishes a card statement name. For print orders, FAKKU ships in unbranded boxes under the name "TENKAI LLC", and Irodori ships in discreet packaging.
FAKKU's terms also publish the themes card networks will not let it sell, including incest and non-consent; Irodori publishes no such list.
Which one should you pick?
Pick FAKKU if you read a lot and want magazines and collected volumes, or if you want one store for doujinshi, manga and games. Unlimited at $14.95 per 30 days gets you through a large English hentai catalog for a fixed price, as long as browser reading suits you.
Pick Irodori if you buy a few doujinshi a month and want to keep them as files, or if you read French or Spanish editions. Its prices are per book, the files are DRM-free, and it says plainly that the artist's royalty on each sale is the priority.
Many readers use both. For a wider list, see FAKKU alternatives and the uncensored hentai manga picks.
