On May 30, 2025 WEBTOON posted a "Product Change" notice in its app saying it will no longer offer the Daily Pass feature as of 5/29
. Comics Beat reported it; we found no matching notice on WEBTOON's website. Episodes of the completed series that Daily Pass had covered now cost coins (three per episode, as reported) or can be opened with the 3-day Ad Pass.
What an episode costs now
WEBTOON coins are sold only in its Android and iOS apps. In the US App Store, 10 coins cost $0.99, about 9.9 cents a coin, and the 100 + 8 pack at $9.99 brings that to about 9.25 cents. At three coins an episode, that is roughly 28 to 30 cents. A completed series of 100 episodes would run about $28 to $30 in coins. Bought coins do not expire, but free coins do and are spent first. What it means for readers
Completed series that used to cost nothing but patience now cost money or ad views. For adult readers the change has a limit: WEBTOON's rules ban nudity and explicit sex, and its Mature label covers themes and violence, so none of this concerns explicit webtoons, which live on other platforms.
